Yes. Because an exposed bridge on a space warship is such a fantastic idea.

Perhaps... but that is the Halo way. You shouldn't discard cannon design elements.

The Pillar of Autumn had an exposed bridge, yes, but Captain Keyes spends half a page bitching about how bad of an idea that is in The Fall Of Reach.

Almost every other ship in Halo (except perhaps in comics, I've never read any of them so I wouldn't know for sure) has it's bridge buried deep within the ship, surrounded by layers of armour.

The Covenant could have gotten away with exposed bridges since they rely far more heavily on shields than armour for protection, but even they still bury their bridges in the centre of their ships.

In regards to this design, I actually rather like it with the wings, but I still prefer the wingless design. Pity we can't have both...

I must question where you get "nearly every other ship had buried bridges" from. Frigates have exposed ones in all 3 renditions, as does the Halcyon and Spirit of fire. No UNSC ships have been shown to have buried bridges other than prowlers that i know of, and even the comic appearances of those have exposed ones cause the comic artists are shockingly bad designers.

does it need wings, since there's no air in space?

I do like the design but not as a fast attack craft, more like a mini destroyer

well other than the frigate the corvett is among the few unsc ships that can and do fly in atmosphere

That said, those wings wouldn't be very useful.

you make an excellent point in fact on any ship smaller than a longsword they don't serve much of a purpose, so i guess you win

The wings help it stay in Slipspace.

There. Problem Solved.

Corvettes would be rated for atmosphere.

I'm actually a huge fan of AFF. I offered to port it to SoaSE a while back, but the team decided that I shouldn't work on more than one project at once.

In retrospect, they're completely right.
