A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
The CRS-class Light Cruiser, or Majestic-class Light Cruiser to the Covenant themselves, were said to be like "luminous manta rays" when seen participating in the invasion and subsequent glassing of Reach. Strikecraft could be seen swarming around the "mouth" of the ship.

It sure does look like an elegant creature of the deep blue see. Looks like the cuttlefish Reapers have a play mate.
Covenant ships in the books are always described with aquatic references.
I know. I've read them all. I was simply admiring the craftsmanship of this vessel.
(buried)
At this angle it looks less like a Longsword and more like a stingray. However that is only a small improvement. When I think off a Covenant ship I think of whales or sharks. Not something with large wings.
...Again, in the book it was described as a manta ray. Not "whales" or sharks. Not all the ships are going to follow the same basic design every time.
We take our cues from the books, not from fans ignorant of the lore.
Well said sir
I am sorry I forgot about the manta ray description. Its been a wile sense I read the books.
All is forgiven, but you should start reading the description box. It has important text in there for this stuff.
Oh I'm sorry I didn't realise you had a better model, please do show us all while we sit here making more of our own, because it's so easy to make a model with such a curved shape and such a small poly limit.....
Well said good sir
Wow hold on I am in no way implying I could do a better job than you. I made a mistake okay its been a wile since I read the books.
This model looks very good and should be amazing when textured. I will reserve any further judgment until that time.
You know, this could have been avoided if you read the description.
It looks like the flying carrier from Ace Combat 6!
I´ll probably get Flamed for this, but isn´t it a bit of a Radical change for the covenant?; the model is good and it fits with the book description, as a fan however I find it difficult to associate it with the Covenant.
Actually I remember (correct me if I´m wrong) seeing a Covie ship that looked like a Manta in one of the comics, it was similar to this model, yet it was a bit more bulky and it´s wings were shorter (It was similar to an Acclamator class from Star Wars).
I´m just offering constructive criticism.
I seriously can't comprise why everyone here wants all the covenant ships to be bulbous whale like spaceships...
I would like this ship if you are going to make it 300/500 meters long.
I agree though that if longer it would be horrible.
At least this is better than the canon destroyer.
Actually i'd agree with him. It needs more bulk and some small tweaks. Right now it's more on the "that's a manta ray" end of the scale rather than the "that's sort of like a sea creature" end Covenant ships hover at.
Bulkier wings means they can store seraphs and banshees so it makes sense.
Great job
The covenant are looking amazing, it's going to be sad destroying these beautiful ships.
Look. They're doing everything from book lore. They are doing it right and this mod looks amazing. Leave them be.
We appreciate fan feedback, but we appreciate it more when they've actually read the source material. Kids who've only played the Xbox games are not our bread and butter.
I think you should keep with the canon, and I think this design does a good job in that attempt. Having said that, I think you could keep the manta ray appearance while simultaneously making this ship look more like a covenant vessel by simply cropping the length of the wings somewhat and making them more "rounded off". The novel said they resembled manta rays, not that they were virtually identical in shape. Just trying to be constructive, but in the end you have to do what you judge to be best for your mod.
We're taking another look at the shape, expect a revision eventually.
On a related note, how many strike craft would this class of ship support?
Maybe 3 Squadrons. We have to take into account that you'll be able to build maybe 500 of these at the end game. We don't want your frame rate to drop to 0.
Meh, you only get 0 if you crash your graphics driver (I have experience with that...)
.05 on the other hand, that's possible...
