If you want to continue playing the mod, yes.

(buried)

i have to say, i think you are making a mistake doing it this way, with just steam. i don't have the money to buy a reamsterd edition of a game i already have and i cant say for sure that im the only person that thinks this way. It is your choice however, just my opinion on the matter

The point is to support Homeworld, and show that it's worth supporting by Gearbox, aside from that, there really is no benefit to developing the mod on a lower-end version of the game that will never receive fixes or improvements. It's $30 or so. It's worth saving up for, and shilling out.

Support the game.

I don't think you understand the situation here. The mod on stream and on moddb are the same build. The mod will no longer be deceleration for homeworld 2 so if you want to play the mod you need to buy the remaster.

Yes, the mod will no longer be developed for homeworld 2.

what? really? this is a... why cant the downloads be put on moddb anymore?

this is a site for mods. so i guess this is no longer a homeworld 2 mod it is a homeworld remasterd mod. idk if its possible but you need to change the game listing then...

this is one of the worst news of a mod that was still alive i ever heard... theres no reason why it has to be on the steam workshop only...

and if its still for homeworld 2 classic then theres defiantly no reason you cant keep putting the mod here especially since not everyone has the remasterd...

steam workshop is not the only way to publish mods. your on moddb. a site for mods to be published...

Homeworld:Remastered currently only supports Steam Workshop for mods, manual installs and such aren't feasible right now, from what I've gathered. Until that changes, Steam Workshop is really the only way to propagate mods for Remastered.

yes but what about releases for regular homeworld 2? from what i can tell from this post there will be no more uploads to moddb at all even for regular HW2.

to bad its not like civilization, or sins of a solar empire. then could just download the file and put it in the folder it goes into.

Even HW2 Classic in the Remastered collection is different enough that supporting old Homeworld 2 probably isn't feasible.

They're just as pensively watching to see how the Workshop stuff pans out as you are, so just be patient.

im sorry. i am lol. its just sad to see support leave the old game, the one i have, and moving onto the old game in the remasterd. so basicly like. its not a matter of being unable to its a matter of it being easyer to just switch to the newer game and supporting that one instead of staying on original and new game and supporting both considering the diffrences in them

You're right, we won't be working on homeworld 2 classic anymore. Why would we? It is a waste of time to do so. Steam workshop is the only way to publish mods for homeworld now, you'll just have to deal with it.

no steam workshop is the only way to publish mods for homeworld remasterd. homeworld 1, cata & 2 mods can still be published elsewhere and used on those games.

as said its just easier to switch to the newer version instead of supporting the older one/s considering the diffrence between new and old and im guessing the newer ones are maybe easier to work with idk.

You can't play mods worth the steam version unless it's on workshop or decompiled. Workshop mods are also packed differently.

im not talking about the steam version im talking about Homeworld 2 and the other games, idk if they have any mods.

regular old homeworld 2. as said most people will probably switch to the steam version so little point to keep creating the mod for both the steam version and the originals considering they have diffrences and it will be easier to keep one running instead of both.

atleast the mod isnt dead though.

Homeworld 2 classic is on steam. It's not about supporting a steam version and non steam version, it's about supporting the remaster and not the classic.

Cool u guys are going remasterd... But, could you guys not delete the version on Moddb? I kind like to play the mod on the old hw2, until i can get the Remasterd version

I wouldn't delete the mod off ModDB, this is where it all started! I have to say that the version on this ModDB page won't be updated any longer, and after Remaster comes out we may or may not either move the ModDB page to Remaster or make a completely new one.
