Thanks to Helge129 for pointing out the shields in the Halo Reach trailer "Remember Reach." I figured out a nice and easy way to do hugging bubble shields that are very close to the trailer I think.
Also, shield hit effects. Was inspired to do them based on the only interpretation I could find:

Awesome shield effect. It will be nice if there's 'wave' effect like in remember reach trailer..but it will cost too much system resources I guess?
Animations in HW2 don't work like that so an effect like that would be impossible.
