She looks beautiful, she really does. But I'm afraid I stand by my previous opinion; she's just a little too thin. The first section is fine, but after that I would have liked it if she'd been slightly fatter with every section. But that's just me. I love her nonetheless.
Yeah I think I have to agree, don't get me wrong she's a stunning piece of work, the modelling & texturing is simply flawless, but my first thought is still that she's maybe just a tad too thin. Whether or not any changes are made to it I'll still be drooling on my keyboard either way though.
I found her a little to fat, too much like an octogon in the rear, so I find this an awesome change, despite the fact that I'm a huge Halo nerd.
I'd agree that canonically i think she is a bit thin, but I rather liker her on a diet. I like this ship, sleek and ready for purple blood.
Well, personally i think the Halo Reach version was a bit half assed, most of the art assets on it were made from recycled bits of other stuff and overall rather than updating the design for new technology and seeing the problems even the old artists did that they tried to rectify, made the whole thing mostly the same boring design but added lots of micro detail like strange angular geometry and hollowed out sections and continued the problems of the old design.
In terms of actual canon, the Halcyon is half the tonnage of a marathon despite supposedly having a more dense structure thanks to the honey comb bracing and barely being shorter, it also doesn't have the recessions and cut out sections the marathon does, so the depicition in the games has more volume over all than the marathon. This thinner design tackles that by, obviously, being thinner while still retaining the iconic Halcyon profile from most angles.
I can understand being attatched to the old design, but to me, much like the Halo 2 & 3 frigate designs, they're artifacts of dated technology, and unlike the Reach frigate, the newest incarnation didn't take the chance to properly update the things that were wrong with the design (ie, fairly boring outline, large, flat, boring sections) and simply added lots of fairly pointless micro detail to make it look vaguely more interesting.
So Youve designed the Halycon Cruisers to be thinner because your Marathon Cruisers are much bigger. It makes great sense tbh its this detail that makes this mod good... i wish i had homeworld 2 :'(
I think that this is great she looks like the Halcyon in Reach, one thing that I would like to ask dose it have a wing of LongSwords?
Keep up the good work.
It can store 4 (2 squads)
It has room for 4 fighters. Because Longswords come in two now, that means 8 Longswords total.
this one kinda reminds me about halo one when you first see the pillar of autumn flying bye and showing the halo ring
That's what i was going for.
Will it be able to be refitted like the Pillar of Autumn was? 'Cuz I'm just dying to see a Halcyon missile massacre. And triple MAC blasts. Hell, just give me the damn PoA!
Excellent, excellent work, by the way.
This Halcyon is refitted, but not like the Autumn. Only difference is MAC.
