I gather you do realise this is almost if not identical to the Halcyon class pillar of autum of of the halo art book.... not a marathon class... its just an updated better looking halcyon class...
nope its a marathon. its 1191 m long as apposed to a Halcyon which is 1170 m. and their both cruisers so of coarse its going to look like an updated version
It's most likely a replica of the ship from the opening cutscene of the Cairo Station armory level. You know, the bigass one in the foreground... ;)
Of course, I always thought that ship was a destroyer, not a Marathon-class cruiser. Doesn't it seem a little small for a vessel that's supposed to be 3-times the tonnage of a Halcyon-class cruiser?

Like the Pillar Of Autumn. Halcyon class ships are tough as hell due to the design of the hull. Many many beams added for reinforcement. Hence why it was brought up to spec with archer pods and a new MAC.

BIG difference between Marathons and Halcyons: The Halcyons have those wierd 3 armor plate thingies under the MAC barrel (not directly under, they're a little ways behind and under it). The Marathons have two huge armor plates in the same place, but they're longer than the Halcyons' armor plates.

the Halcyon class can also take a beating because of the honey-comb shaped decks throughout the ship but they cost more than the Marathon class.
