Although there might not be gravity in space, there is still the mass of the objects you need to move. Moving things with a lot of mass requires a lot of force, which is where the cranes come in. The ISS is fitted with a sort of crane as well iirc.

Well, large asteroids may have enough gravity for the use of cranes to be feasible.
