Heath Games' Second installment of the Horror Mod series, "Half-Rats". Taking place in July of 1883. Soundtrack courtesy of Ague. Beware, this mod is pretty much NOTHING like Half-Life.

First of all, just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying the mod thus far. I figured, instead of troubling the devs to answer every single thread asking, "What do I do at [insert section of game]?", we could all collect them in a single thread that everyone can see, and the devs wouldn't be given an notification for each individual post. So, yeah, if you have a question about where to go or what to do, just post it here. I guess I'll start... I'm in the manor, and have just gotten to the room on the 3rd floor with the ventilation duct. When I go down it, I die (I don't know what I was expecting, what with gravity and all). I decided to take the stairs/chandelier down there, went to that section of the basement (the room with the two zambambos behind the breakable bars), but there didn't seem to be anything in there. Am I missing something? Or do I not need to go the basement at all? Edited by: WolfSushi |

I've got two things I need a bit of help on. |

Interesting and helpful thread you've started WolfSushi! The players will find help in here and we, the devs, will see what players found difficult or too difficult to solve. Good job! Also, a thread rule: Whoever posts an answer, please cover it with a SPOILER tag. You select your answer, click on Format (top-left of the comment window) and select Spoiler. As Shepard said @WolfSushi, you must find your way to one of the top floor rooms (this is a hotel btw ) . Behind a bed, that has been put vertically in a room, lies a letter and and a key, right beside it. The blue candle @RomnyHasagawa is inside the only tomb with a red X on it (the tomb lies on the second floor of the catacomb's Main Hall). The powder keg is in the attic. The way to the attic is via a drop-down ladder, activated after you break a lock, located somewhere on the Gatling Gun Room's balcony (check out the ceiling). |

@Wolfsushi, that was actually an "Easter Egg" of sorts. Did you read the letter about the man who stayed in that room? The shaft is not actually a ventilation shaft at all, but a way for the Hotel workers to kidnap people and get them into the basement. That's how eminence got their workers, and the Hotel served as the "processing point". The people who were unfit to work got ground up for food in the basement kitchen after examination. This whole thing is in reference to H.H. Holmes. Look him up. Very interesting. The shaft should not be used at all, actually. I'd take the stairs if I were you. I'm guessing you got the key to the church yard already, right? @Romny, The blue candle is hiding right under your nose....or rather over it...Check the sarcophagi on the second tier in the main room until you see something...."Different" about one of them. The powder keg in Bernard's manor is located in the attic. There is more to the main hall (Not the ballroom, the one with the rotunda and gatling gun) than meets the eye. There's a whole floor above the mezzanine/wrap-around balcony, that wraps around the rotunda. Turn your lantern on and look up. You'll know it when you see it. |

@Half-Rats Oooo, I hadn't even realized that! I read the letter but it didn't quite click in my brain (probably because I thought it was a manor rather than a hotel). And, yes, I did get the key to the church, but in my excitement to explore to explore the rest of the hotel, I had completely forgotten I was supposed to head to the church! Interesting how a mod can instill a sense of child-like wonder in a 19 year old college student. Thanks, Half-Rats. Keep up the good work. |

Oh we shall! Also, did you explore the backalley behind the bank, barbershop and doctor's office? There's some goodies there that you might want to pick up before you leave Eminence proper forever. |

Short question, what i'm supposed to do with the key I grabbed after blowing up the door in the gatling gun room? I really don't remember where I should go with it |
||
Dec 19 2016 Anchor | ||
Ah, yes...he says to come out to the garden...should probably have made that a little more clear to the players where the garden actually is! Go back to the ballroom and try the door that was locked. |

so uhh... im stuck at the very begining. What do i do with the red key that i've found in the barn. I noticed that you can put it back as well so idk if i bugged the game. The only openable doors are the one that leads to the alley behind the bank and the one that leads to the bar with the vending machine and i have tried every other door with no luck |

After picking up the key, go into the police station (the building at the opposite side of the barn). --

What shep said. |

Dec 21 2016 Anchor | ||
Thanks guys, it worked after i fiddled around with both doors. Guess me picking up the key and putting it back multiple times messed with the mod |

Where do I go after the police station? I've heard the clue, but can't figure where the "estate" is. And I don't know the North is in which direction. |
||
Dec 21 2016 Anchor | ||
There's the sign in Eminence proper near the church. It says "Tunnel to North Estates". That door is now openable. |

What do I do with the detonator and the rope in the mansion? I've looked everywhere, but all I can do is attach the rope I found in one of the rooms to the detonator, but it seems like it is too short, because it lays in front of the barricaded door. I don't know what to do at this point. |
||

Dec 28 2016 Anchor | |
Push the barrel between the door and the rope then use the detonator. --

You must find a powder keg to place it between the gap. It's in the attic. The way to the attic is via a drop-down ladder, activated after you break a lock, located somewhere on the Gatling Gun Room's balcony (check out the ceiling). |

I'm in the lumber yard, but what am I supposed to do? Looks like I need to drop the log onto the automatic machine gun, but neither lever nor the valve handle does anything. Neither did dropping all 8 sticks of dynamite directly on the gun (god mode of course). Am I missing something or is a trigger not triggering? |
||
Dec 29 2016 Anchor | ||
Oh, the crane controls. There's a lever there at the base of the crane. Should probably stick an oil lantern there in patch 1.1! |
||
Dec 29 2016 Anchor | ||
I did see the lever at the base of the crane, but when I Use it, it just makes a noise, nothing happens |
||
Dec 29 2016 Anchor | ||
It's powered, right? You have to turn on the steam engine first. |
||
Dec 29 2016 Anchor | ||
I've Used the two levers and tried turning the valve handle, but nothing happens Ok, got it figured out- I hadn't "used" to light the furnace part of the steam engine. Thanks |
||
Dec 30 2016 Anchor | ||
Yep! Gotta' make sure there's a heat source in the firebox for the steam engine to work. |
