There will not be an updated page until the mod has been completed. Sadly, MODDB has this stupid process of deleting pages; Otherwise now, this page would be gone.

But hey, i'm working on the mod, and it's going ok.

I'm trying new things to ensure the mod is fun and playable. Luckily Mapbase v7.2 has introcued an easier way of implementing custom weapons, so that should be interesting.

Just played through the whole demo and I got some questions. Why is there an autoexe.cfg file resetting all my settings? Why does the vortigaunt cut scene appear after a save reload? Why did I have to hit the generator with a crowbar instead of just pressing +use on it?

My review: Needs a lot of work. Bare bones map with very little detail. Took me forever to figure it out, but I can speed through it in less than like 5 minutes now. The suit button needs reworking as if the player doesn't touch the suit, and the door closes, there is no way to open it back up. It also took me forever to figure out the keypad puzzle. Again, I think I broke it because even if I used console commands to +use the button, the gate wouldn't open.

Finally, the power box puzzle is impossible to know unless the player already knows about it or just happens upon it by mistake.

I hate to be the angry critic here, but this map needs a lot of work.

So funnily enough, the vortigaunt scene is fired by a logic_auto I/O OnMapSpawn. This means that at any time the Map loads, the events will trigger. I fixed this by making the logic_auto a logic_relay. The Player is froze and controlled by a camera, he never teleports. So because of this, the player is surrounded by a func_trigger_once, just so that the logic_relay can fire.

Definitely something which i wouldn't of expected, but i'm glad it's fixed.

Yes the autoexec could've been easily fixed had you deleted the autoexec.cfg. I moved over their contents to the main .cfg file. This was slightly a bit of hindsight on my end, but glad to know that the issue is easily resolvable.

I'll try get this new demo version out by next week.

No, i do not know why the autoexec has this imperialistic control over the settings. My only guess is to get rid of the autoexec itself.

I actually don't know why the Vortigaunt cutscene does that, i'll look into it.

What is the issue with hitting the generator? I hate to be the bearer of logic, but process of elimination should be your best friend.

I'll look into that suit button issue.

As for the keypad... Oh gee, i wonder if they could be any subliminal messaging here...

As for the powerbox puzzle, i suppose you mean the maze thingy. Yeah, i agree, it's kinda ******, and i'll defo replace it.

At the end of the day, thanks for actually critiquing the demo. I'll be revamping the demo actually, might as well since i'll be heavily modifying Chapter 1's first level.

Reinstalled the mod and came to the same problem:

when I change my (user) settings : f.e.: I connect my flashligt tot the 'P': when I push the P I get the flaslight. No problem as far.

then I save the game and quit.

Next time I start the game, the flashlight is no longer connected to the P, but ... to the F.
Same thing for the keys forward, right, left, for the key to quit the game
and so on...

hi i got 2 issues so far that are: first i can`t switch weapon and second whenever i chose a saved game it takes me back to the very start of the game.thx

This is because the suit is needed to switch weapons and the vortigaunt cut scene will always play at the start of a save, but your character will be where you saved it at.

I'm not sure on what you mean. It works fine for me, as i just tested it out. Maybe it is something on your end?
