It's been about six weeks since the last update on the project, which is quite long for my standards but just a split second in ValveTime(R) so it's all a matter of perspective, I guess. So what's been going on?
I've been working on converting more of the maps to co-operative mode and am currently working on the Xen chapters. This may sound like I'm nearly done but there are a few more hurdles to take. First off, I want to revisit all maps and rebalance them for multiple players. This will take a lot of internal testing time. Secondly, the game code will need many more changes to fully support co-operative play. This is also take more time to develop.
However, most of the basic functionality has been added to create a small co-op demo map! As you can see from the screenshot above I've used one of the maps from 'Questionable Ethics' to showcase the new co-op mode. As stated, it's still in an early stage but if you want to take it for a spin then go ahead! You can create new server from the main menu and load the 'server_test" map.
For the co-op mode I had to update the models as well. In Half-Life, each model has three versions:
- view model: this is the weapon you see in your first person view. (v_model)
- world model: this is the weapon you can see laying on the ground to be picked up. (w_model)
- player model: this is the weapon wielded by a player model (p_model)
I've created new p_models for all of the weapons based on their new looks. Some of the weapons also have recieved improvements to their w_models, such as the gauss, snark and handgrenade.
These changes allowed me to add a new option to the menu, which are thirdperson and firstperson mode! This will give you a completely new perspective to play from!
Next to that I've made several small fixes and updates to maps and models. Be sure to check the changelog in the supplied readme file!
Thanks for reading and hope to see you next time in a larger update!
Very nice update, since you're also remaking the multiplayer models, do you play on
- entiching the multiplayer maps
- adding bot support
Also is enriched version of Uplink still planned, or you chose to scrap it?
Not going to do anything about the deathmatch maps. The multiplayer part will be co-op only. I haven't considered bots so far. Not sure about those.
I'm not going to do Uplink. I would rather move on to something new after this.
Is it possible to make some player specific things ? like make players have sounds attached to model (something like sound folder in folder with playermodel.). Or viewmodels with same scheme
The only thing you can customize about your player is the model colours with the sliders in the mulitplayer menu.
(buried)
Until the weapon models are replaced with normal ones, the mod will be unplayable
lmao, okay? replace the files urself with the original models then.
how is it unplayable
Finally! After like a friggin Month, a new Half-Life: Enriched Build finally came out! Nice job for releasing a new Half-Life: Enriched Build! You rock so much!! ;)
Wow, and that's a screenshot from one of my most loved scenes in the whole game (the Questionable Ethics Screenshot). So cool to think of this as a coop experience! Keep up the work! Oh, and glad to see you alive :)
You are planning make multiplyer version?
Is this compatible with the 25th Anniversary update? Or do I have to switch to the steam_legacy version to play this mod?
