As the team gets closer and closer to the 1.00 release, we will be creating more tailored trailers to show off what we have been working on! This action trailer, the first of many to come, shows off the new pistol, arms and hands viewmodels and more of how our NoVR mod works!

Spider-Man, one of our project leads, took the footage and with help from the wonderful Half-Peeps, edited it down! Also all our screenshots, videos and more are captured on a Steam Deck to show off how flexible and easy to use our NoVR mod is!

In this section we would like to showcase how we have translated Half-Life Alyx's interactions, movements and more onto the flatscreen. Using Half-Life 2's mechanics as a basis, anyone familiar with the series will feel right at home playing our free mod for Half-Life Alyx NoVR!

As you can see in the video, players can easily crouch, jump, crouch jump, sprint (although the regular walk and sprint are slower than in Half-Life 2), use the mouse to look and all the usual movement mechanics you expect from Half-Life 2's foundation. When it comes to interaction, we have ensured to preserve all the little touches that Valve added that helped create such an immersive VR world. From feeding snarks, to spinning globes, writing with markers, erasing it, moving objects into random places and more, we feel we have done a great job so far and will continue to enhance every interaction in the game as we continue development.

The most in demand feature as we progress towards our 1.00 release has been the new viewmodels and animations. Currently we have progressed the most with the pistol, with both the shotgun and SMG rigged and being worked on. Here are an amazing batch of screenshots that showcase the new arms and hands for Alyx, along with the pistol in its upgraded form. We are still working on all the viewmodels and animations, so stay tuned for the first test of the viewmodels coming soon!

Here is a sneak peak at the other work we continue to do for all aspects of viewmodels and animations. Remember that this is all work in progress and not final, including everything in the screenshots, trailers and video previews. Please give us feedback and help us improve the game as we have been doing for months now!

We have been focusing mainly on the viewmodels and animations, however we have not stopped working on all the other aspects of the mod that we continue to add and polish. Here is a breakdown of some of the highlights:

• Added Alyx's pockets (not available on Steam Deck yet)
• Improved collision in various levels so players cannot skip areas
• Unsupported mods no longer crash the game when going back to the main menu
• Added new supported mods (see the next section of the article)
• Improved viewmodel sway and bob
• Improved interactions throughout all levels
• Easier to use ladders
• Crash fixes
• Steam Deck stability improvements
• And more!

The biggest part of the new update includes the use of Alyx's pockets just like in the VR version! You can now stash items such as health syringes, reviver hearts, combine batteries and more!

If you are playing Half-Life Alyx with our mod for the first time we want to remind you and everyone that we have added support for many mods that other great modders have created for Half-Life Alyx over the last over 3+ years! We have expanded support to a few new mods recently as well and have updated the list below with the full supported list:

Alyx returns to City-17 after meeting the G-MAN, and teams up with Russell once again. During her absence, a mysterious levitating building appeared in the Sector X region of City-17. Two key members of the resistance named Barry and Maya decided to infiltrate and investigate Sector X -- until their signal went quiet... You awaken in an abandoned hotel after being in a deep coma for over a year. During that time the 7 hour war has taken place, and the combine are slowly gaining control over the Earth. Obviously you want to find out if your family is safe and where they are. Upon leaving your room, you come across a headset with a man named Elden trying to communicate to you through it. Maybe he will help you escape the city and find your family? Do you even have what it takes to get out of the city? Only time will tell.

Welcome to my new mini-campaign with a total of 7 maps. The first 4 maps are reskinned with new lighting, new enemies, new rooms of "The Lost Case Revelations". The final 3 maps are brand new and will lead you to a well known house...

Jump into the role of Alyx Bond and take on the classic N64 Goldeneye map DAM in this VR REMASTER! Experience a nostalgic breakthrough in re-telling a classic through sandbox mechanics that give players a unique combat experience as they are guided through a story crafted to help Alyx accomplish each objective. The dynamic AI that has been crafted, as well as players choice of approach through each objective, gives you the freedom to play a unique style that will keep you coming back for more!

Inspired by classic survival horror games and the early chapters of Half-Life: Alyx, this short 10-15 minute adventure map will take you through an abandoned City17 subway station infested with zombies. Ammo and supplies are low so make sure you use every shell and bullet carefully...

A Combine substation is being built in a residential block, and after a rebel attack their progress was halted. As one of the last remaining rebels in the area, you are being sent in to stop the combine from finishing their project. You will be sent in alone and are not expected to return.

In this series of 6 dynamic combat focused arenas you'll explore large natural outdoor environments, while dispatching squads of Combine to progress. You will need to shoot fast, reload faster and improvise to stay alive.

As always we want to thank the tens of thousands of players who have played the mod, either downloaded from here on ModDB or directly from our GitHub where we work on a weekly basis. Our intention with this mod was always to build it with the community. The members of the team have all originally played HLA on VR first and wanted to make it more available to all Half-Life fans around the world. Since the game has already been out for over 3 years, we didn't want to have fans wait even longer and when we began work in the middle of March 2023 we wanted to have it available and open for fans to play and provide feedback on.

This has been an extremely important part of the development process for us for this mod, which allows fans to playtest and lets us adjust on a weekly basis based on the feedback we get. Thank you to the thousands of players who have provided us feedback and helped shape this amazing mod into what it is today!
