This pack aims to remove post-Orange Box cosmetic and gameplay changes in Half-Life 2. Works as a sourcemod for Half-Life 2.

Description

Updated release. Fixes the first release's cubemap issues, wrong VMT settings, and a couple common bugs. Tidier installation and more faithful to the original experience.

Why can't I change the FOV? I can't find the slider for it and even when I change it with the console, it just goes back to 75 instead of 90.

The slider isn't there because the settings are done in the original style. Back then it didn't have FOV slider, or the colour correction choice, or some other things.

Which console command are you using? If it's just "fov" then yes, it resets on level load (always has). What you want is "fov_desired".

I just tried your mod for the first time on [2023-10-22]
and I can't seem to get any of these FOV commands working.
None of them seem to do anything.
Any ideas?
-EDIT-
It looks like it just needed a reload of some kind.

I really liked how the game looks with old fire and blood particles, this gives it some very pleasant charm. Also at the moment when Grigori gives player a shotgun and then takes Annabelle, it's model is missing in his hands.

Love it.

Also, something that isn't included in this mod:
In the original 2004 build, Entanglement was originally Chapter 10 instead of Chapter 9a. (So the game went up to Chapter 15, instead of 14)

I have never seen that in a legacy hl2 build. There's even some code hack Valve hastily made to make "9a" work properly with certain things.

The original 2004 build (2153, Collector's Edition) has chapter9a.cfg which starts d2_prison_06. The resource files containing game text have the line
"HL2_Chapter9a_Title" "ENTANGLEMENT"
And the source code from Dec 2004 SDK uses that line for those maps.
(gameinterface.cpp)

{ "d2_prison_06", "#HL2_Chapter9a_Title" },
{ "d2_prison_07", "#HL2_Chapter9a_Title" },
{ "d2_prison_08", "#HL2_Chapter9a_Title" },

Meanwhile it doesn't have chapter15.cfg, or HL2_Chapter15_Title. Same deal with build 2187 (the retail build from November 2004).
In short, I don't agree with your statement.

Is it possible you could restore normal +use prop interactions? In the older versions, you could do things such as prop-flying very easily because the object would stay under you and in your hands without the game making you let go.
