GTA: Vanilla Vice has been updated to version 1.1 (Jan 2022)!

The changelog has been removed from this post and is available in the ReadMe.txt file in the game folder.
Everyone who downloaded GTA: Vanilla Vice from January 14 to January 20 - delete the old unpacked version, download and unpack the new version.
If you downloaded the mod on January 20 and you are not sure what version it is - you can check the version in the 'ReadMe.txt' file in the game folder.

That's it, have a good game!

If you use Windows 10 or higher - open "Properties" of the 'gta-vc.exe' file, then "Compatibility", "Change high DPI settings", check the "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and select "Application" under "Scaling performed by:". Click "OK".
If that doesn't help, open the 'faq.txt' file in the 'ReadMe' folder and try to find a suitable solution for your problem there.

try to decrease the draw distance in the game settings.
if the game still lags - open the 'VCLodLights.ini' file in the 'plugins' folder and set the 'DrawDistance' value in the range from 2.0 to 3.0 (for example, 2.5 instead of 3.6; lower value - better performance). save the changes you made.

this solution as well as many others is available in the 'faq.txt' file in the 'ReadMe' folder, i don't understand why you don't read it.

I had lags at integrated Intel graphics (especially when it rains and driving/walking through bushes), disabling antialiasing helped me:
open the 'GTAVC.WidescreenFix.ini' file in the 'plugins' folder and set the 'ForceMultisamplingLevel' to zero (0 instead of max)

The game asks for the CD, would you address this in the next update?

So this is standalone and doesn't require installing into an existing game?

The latest version of GTA: Vanilla Vice is now v1.2.

This version fixes the flaws found in 1.1, makes changes to improve compatibility and stability, reduces the size of the game. A more detailed list of changes is available in the 'ReadMe.txt' file in the game folder.

Version 1.1 is now outlaw, it is strongly not recommended to use it - delete the entire folder and unpack the new version. You can check the version of the mod in the 'ReadMe.txt' file in the game folder.

That's all, have a good game!

Okay, i didn't plan on posting a changelog, but you guys keep asking me about it, so here it is (probably temporarily):

* v1.2 (Mar 2022):
- The mod was rebuilt in a classic way, which reduced the size of the game by an average of 10% and ensured compatibility with more devices;
- Measures have been taken to counter DEP;
- Minimized the risk of accidentally obtaining wanted stars after completing rampage missions (I'm not the only one who was annoyed by this, right?);
- Drive-by shooting by rotating the camera feature has been added for boats too;
- Minor changes in technical scripts;
- Many deferred fixes and improvements that previously ran out of time to implement;
- Added a few new answers to the FAQ, made some edits to the description and credits;
- Corrections for flaws of the previous release:
-- Vehicles crossed out without your participation in the lists of Sunshine Autos;
-- Conflict between autosave and phone call;
-- Incorrect work of the counter in rampages with Katana;
-- Incorrect work of some scripts in "Cop Land" and "V.I.P." missions;
-- Reluctant appearance of pedestrians on the screen when driving a vehicle;
-- Lack of drive-by shooting by rotating the camera feature on a far camera on all supported vehicles;
-- Various minor flaws in the display of neons.

GTA: Vanilla Vice has been updated to version 1.3.1 (Apr 2023)!

An update fixes the shortcomings of the previous release, as well as a few long-standing little things that never got around to it. What's new is a collectable map: hold the Tab key and select the map you want with keys 1 to 6 to see all the hidden packages, unfulfilled rampages, stunt jumps and robberies.

As always, a full list of changes is available in the ReadMe.txt file in the game folder. If you have any questions about the game and its performance - answers to most questions (as well as other materials) are always available in the ReadMe folder.

That's it for today, sunshine to all!

I was looking for a vanilla-ish mod pack that fixed bugs & added minor changes for my next playthrough. This is perfect! Thank you so much! Would love one for III & GTA SA. (Also you can publish this pack on Steam Guides so more people see this!).
