Now in my opinion 5 pieces of coal is too much. In steel usually is up to 2% carbon taken from coal(I'm a mechanic engineer I know what I'm speaking). So one piece should be enough.
Now you could add the possibility to obtain coal from burning wood; also called charcoal.

Darn, you're really expanding the game. This year is ripe with mods like this for oldschool games.

Since I saw someone complaining about taking too long to create stuff I wanna make this clear.

We live in an AWFUL society, everything must be done with haste, everyone needs to have everything at his disposal RIGHT THIS SECOND, and I think its wrong on SO many levels.

Videogames evolved in this direction too. And I think its my duty AS A GAMER, not as a modder, to make people understand what playing a game means to me. It means hard work and sacrifice to obtain gratification. And I dont mean farming 24/7 to get a goddamv recipe (thank you WoW), I mean stuff like this, stuff that you actually have to work for, not a simple "oh hey I have enough LP to learn how to craft this, let me oh cool one click and 2 seconds later I went from underdog to superhero"

It may be cool to make stuff fast but... is that what you want? Im sure its not what I want. While making this video I cut a part where I went hunting molerats to find enough fat to craft the weapon oil needed to sharpen the blade I was carrying. I mean I couldve easily added it via console but I went hunting anyway and you kmow what? I enjoyed it, a lot. It felt good to hunt them down because it had a purpose. I had to spend time to sccomplish something, and it felt GOOD. I EARNED my ************* sharpened sword.

Very well said! Unfortunately many people will don't agree with this because they want the best stuff at the start.

I personally prefer to have great stuff after some hard work because otherwise it's not so enjoyable and its easy (which I don't like). Its not much a big problem when it is easy but for me (and many other people) it would be immersion breaking.

To me being an underdog is way better then being powerful hero. I take my time as long as I can, hell I even wear **** armors cause they're looks to me better then heavy plated paladin who just 14 in game days ago was some bum in pajamas and rusty sword :D. So I'm totally with you on this.

Also: Skyrim - Gothic Edition FTW :D

None, the option to fuse it to weapon oil is automatically learned when you learn how to sharpen swords (the blacksmith tells you how to do that).

I've added log notes on the new mechanics, since it may be confusing at first. When in doubt, check the log :D

very well said! everything must have it's price, and in Gothic ultimate price is usually invaluable PATIENCE! lot's of people want best stuff in 1st Chapter. And that simply would spoil the biggest fun in a game. That why kind of hierarchy exists - stronger enemies wait for their turn till you are stronger, unless you develop certain skills, etc.

Balanced game, leveling slowly, disabling some exploit possibilities, making the game not too easy and not too hard - that takes a lot of time - and we really appreciate this! :)

Immersion you are building - that is one of the most important things imho, that is what makes the game special and unique.

thank you, Vic7im, for listening to our ideas and suggestions and including some of them into your vision, blending them within your mod! :)

Your choice of music is always amazing. Conan the Barbarian, what a great movie.
