GMDX is an award-winning large-scale modification for the 2000 PC classic Deus Ex. GMDX addresses the many flaws of the game, polishes it to a very high standard, and adds new layers of depth that one would have hoped to see in a sequel. GMDX is executed with the strict parameter of staying true to the original design principles that define Deus Ex, and seeks to improve all aspects of design excluding the plot and soundtrack. The cumulative result thus far is said to be, and aims to be the "definitive Deus Ex experience".

Note: I'm using the RSD beta.

For Liberty Island -> Unatco -> Battery Park -> All of Hell's Kitchen pre-Osgood/warehouse

Playing on Realistic, if that's important. Lockpick and Electronics both at Trained from the beginning.

IMO, I am very conservative with my usage of resources. When I can, I'll use an explosive barrel/box in place of any of the stuff in my inventory, for example. I also think I do well at scavenger hunting all the nooks and crannies for... anything that isn't nailed down.

I was barely keeping up with opening just things that could only be opened with either explosives (damage) or lockpicks. This is mostly stuff added by GMDX, I believe. I think I even skipped a couple of things.

Note, this means I wasn't using them for progression at all, as far as I can recall.

Nearly everything required only one lockpick. I think the box inside smuggler's safe was the only exception.

As of visiting Unatco HQ the second time, I have found no additional normal rockets (while I've found WP rockets twice???). This means my extreme conservatism with those rockets has been justified... also, this shortage of rockets is weird. I ultimately ended up using one normal rocket... though I loaded saves after checking what I'd get for my trouble more than once. (There's a place you can break into next to the Underworld where there's literally nothing to get?)

Meanwhile, my multitool numbers just kept going up, until I was well over 10 and was using them because I had such a surplus.

As of UNATCO 2, I have six lockpicks, which is a decent supply, but those extra lockpicks I got in Osgood's and the warehouse district should have been scattered earlier in the game, as well as perhaps some additional ones... or fewer things that could only use lockpicks or my very few precious rockets.

I will note that WP rockets could have broken some things, though it's weird to use AOE fire rockets for opening stuff.
