I don't know why but I prefer Thrór, Thráin and Thorin, not the Gimli-Old Dáin timeline.
I think they were cooler in the movies.
I think this is better like that because Edain Mod is based on "The Hobbit" and "Lotr" so they have already Iron Hills and Ered Luin based on The Hobbit and I think this is for that than they decided to make erebor durin the war of the ring ;)
