Install Instructions:

You MUST have Kingdoms for this to work

Steam:

1. Open the win.rar file and extract the zip to your Medieval 2 Mods directory (usually this is Program Files-Steam-Steamapps-Common-Medieval 2-mods)

2. Rename one of the kingdoms campaigns something like "americas 1" or "americas original" (or whatever campaign you picked)

3. Then rename the mod folder (Game of Thrones Enhanced Winds of Winter) to "americas" (or the campaign you picked)

4. Launch Medieval 2 on Steam; it'll bring up the campaigns to choose from (Vanilla M2 and kingdoms). Pick the campaign you changed. In this case, let's say americas. If everything is done right, it should work.

Note: You have to play a quick or custom battle before launching the campaign, or it will CTD. This is a problem with Steam, so I unfortunately can't do anything about it.

For Versions Other Than Steam:

Extract the downloaded folder to your mods-folder, make sure the name of the extracted folder is "GoT_Enhanced" without the " - ", then do not start it with youngbloods but start it with "Executable" instead.

Game of Thrones: The Winds of Winter, a sub-submod of GoT:TW 4.5 - which in turn is a submod for Westeros Total War 0.54.

Download Version 1.3. 1.1 was bugged and had to be replaced.

Update notes for 1.1 (By ClintEast):

-Made Dragonstone Swordsmen recruit-able with just a castle, your previously had to have a citadel, which made them only available later in the game
-Added some descriptions for a few units, which previously only had placeholders.

Now that I've got the basic scripting down, I can start adding in some scripts. Hopefully, by the time of the update, I'll have the following:

-Justin Massey mercenary army spawn for House Stannis. This will strengthen Stannis' faction while making House Bolton significantly harder.

-Lannister-Frey attack on Moat Cailin. While this never happened in the show (the Boltons took it, but since they're dealing with Stannis they won't get many opportunities to do so), it will add more challenge to the Greyjoys, who are currently a bit too easy.

-Lannister reinforcements to help the Boltons hold onto the North. I've found that without help, the Boltons can be destroyed incredibly fast playing as either the Greyjoys or Stannis, so it would make sense to give them a bit of assistance.

-Justin Massey's sellsword army spawns as a Stannis army near the Dreadfort.
-Before Massey spawns, the Lannisters will send two waves of reinforcements to help the Boltons. While not accurate of the show, it does help to balance things out so that the Boltons aren't annihilated within the first 20 turns.

Removed the AI money script. Basically, this script made it to where the AI would receive a few thousand gold every turn if their treasury was under 50000, or if they were in debt. This got to be irritating and highly unbalanced, since the AI could produce massive armies with practically no upkeep while the player usually starts out with a failing economy. Hopefully, this'll make the campaign much fairer, and make decisive battles actually count for something.

Clint East:

"So, after roughly a month of work on my behalf, Mr_Nygren's, and VltimaRatio's, this sub-submod is done. At least, the first version. Basically, this mod combines the Korpskog "Winds of Winter" submod for Westeros: Total War, and the Game of Thrones: Total War submod. Thus, new units, new characters, new strat-models, changes to the strat-map, new factions, etc., all to fit the Winds of Winter setting, but maintain the feel of the show. The timeline is about season 5 of the show, and the very end of A Dance With Dragons.

Setting:
With the deaths of Robb Stark, Renly Baratheon, Balon Greyjoy, and Joffrey "Baratheon", Westeros has finally achieved relative peace. The Freys now rule over the Riverlands in place of the Tullys, the Boltons rule the North rather than the Starks, and the country is finally brought back under the king's peace. Yet war is not yet done. Stannis Baratheon, though defeated at the Blackwater, continues his campaign to claim the Iron Throne, and now battles the Boltons in the North, hoping to restore the Starks to their seat of Winterfell.

Meanwhile, war continues raging in the Riverlands, as the Brotherhood Without Banners opposes Frey and Lannister rule, and numerous revolts have sprung up by Tully loyalists, most notably Brynden Tully, the Blackfish. And peace in the South will only remain so long as the shaky alliance with House Tyrell holds. And if House Martell decides to make any moves, war will certainly break out once again."

In the Vale - Petyr Baelish has maneuvred his way into power as well - being cunning enough to be able to manipulate the young boy-lord Robbyn Arryn (Robert). Petyr's ambitions might not stop in the Vale and might get him into conflict with the other houses - especially since he has Sansa Stark, who hides under a new name, secretly hiden in the Arryn vale. As she is blamed for the death of King Joffrey who was poisioned at his wedding - this might get the Arryns into conflict with the Lannisters and their allies. Petyr Baelish have to use all of his cunning to get out on top of the coming conflicts, and he might want to aid Stannis in his war against the Boltons to take revenge for the death of Cathelyn Stark - who were killed at the red wedding by the Boltons and Freys.

Features:
New factions:

House Manderly:

House Frey:

  • House Bolton (it was in the GoT mod, but has now replaced House Stark in the North).

Many changes to the Strat map to fit the Winds of Winter setting - such as moved starting regions, characters etc.

New Lannister household troops created in january.

New Stannis household troops created in january.

New Bolton banner carriers implemented to 4.6 in may.

- It's a great improvement compared to the decembre release - and will be better for awhile!

Change in scripting to fit the setting - changed the weather in the script to start in winter instead of summer, removed the Kingship scripts, added Jon Snow (Stark) in as a unique character for Stannis (with Night's Watch bodyguard and Wildling spearmen/Axemen units),

New banners in battle and on the strat-map for House Frey and House Manderly.

Sorry for the late response here. I'm glad you like the mod. I'm not sure about more generals. Like I said in the last comment, I'm not actively working on it now and don't have any plans to start on it soon unfortunately. If I start on it again it probably won't be until next year, but I will definitely be thinking about things like scripting and adding new characters. Thanks again for the positive comment.

Mainly what I'll need help with if I go back to the mod is scripting and implementing new buildings. I have some experience with scripting and can do a few basic scripts easily but more complex stuff I would need a more experienced modder to help me out. And implementing new buildings I have no skill or experience with at all. If you can do either of these things or know anyone who can, just let me know.

Sorry about the inactivity these past few months. Wanna go ahead and let everyone know that I'm probably not going to continue working on Peaman's mod (it seems to have shifted to Mr Nygren anyway, though if he invites me to help I would certainly be open to it), and that it will be a while before I come back to update my own mod. I'd say that I won't never update it again, since I have a tendency to ignore something for a long time only to come back and get really into it again. So, maybe expect an update in a few months, if you're willing to wait that long. That said, I'll still be around checking this page every now and then, so if you have any other questions or need help with anything I'll try to answer as best as I can.

If that's what's happening, my guess is that a file is missing or that it got corrupted during the download. All I could suggest is that you redownload the mod and try it again. I know it's tedious, but that's what I would try.

Could you make a Stark faction independent of Stannis? To represent the sixth season and the battle of the bastards?

This mod is meant to start at season 4-5, with Stannis in the North (more loyal to the books in that regard than to the show). The closest thing currently to an independent "Stark" faction are the Manderlys. It's unlikely I will implement the Starks as their own faction into this mod. It would only really work if I wrote in a script to replace the Stannis/Manderly faction with House Stark after their respective leaders died, but this would be incredibly complicated, and far beyond my own skills as a scripter. However, there are some mods out there that do start with a Stark faction led by Jon Snow, which is the closest that I'm aware of to the scenario you're describing. Again, though, I most likely will not create an independent Stark faction for this particular mod.

Update, everyone:

PeaMan has invited me to join the team for his new GOT mod, which will include several campaigns, one of them being the Winds of Winter. He has requested that I do the work for the Winds of Winter mod, so from now on, I will be focusing my efforts on that mod. I still hope to implement some of my ideas for the new update on this submod, and it uses a better map, so I'm expecting something pretty good. When the first release of the mod comes out, I'll start to post updates about my progress on creating the final product I want for the Winds of Winter campaign.

Hi clint will your version still be set in season 5 with the boltons and stanis still in the north and the freys holding riverrun or season 7 with the starks back in control because i think season 5/ 6 setting is better than peamans setting. Then you can do a jon snow reconquest. Nothing wrong with having both though

Yes, mine will still follow the season 5 setting, at least at the start. I'm planning on eventually making it a combination of both, with the campaign starting around season 5 but then having the Targaryens spawn as an emergent faction to simulate season 7.
