Greetings, Defenders
There is a lot of information to cover about the next update and the future of Full Invasion as a whole. Issues have arisen which have caused us to change our focus of development, and we would like to keep the community updated on what's going on.
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated on this article, as we would like to hear what the whole community thinks rather than just a few people. As always, follow us on ModDB and join our Steam Group to stay updated on Full Invasion!
As many will know, we planned for our next update to focus on adding and expanding factions in Full Invasion 2: Amber. We had a great line-up for the future, and were well on our way to a full release, but there was a problem... Full Invasion 2 has gotten too large for Warband.
Crashes and runtime errors happen more frequently than before, loading times are insane, and we’re out of room to cram more into the module. If we were to continue development how we have been, the mod would become unplayable. Honestly, we're surprised this hasn't happened sooner.
So we’re at a difficult place - we can continue working on the next update and release a version which is incompatible for the majority of the community, or we can fix the mod properly and relaunch it for everyone to enjoy.
There’s a lot of stuff in Full Invasion which goes unused — factions which are rarely played, maps which aren’t enjoyable, and invasions that lack the variety they need. A large portion of the mod’s resources are tied up with these bit, unfortunately. Instead of this, we could put these resources into creating better factions, maps, and towards polishing the entire mod. We would much rather have a smaller, great mod than a mediocre mess any day of the week.
We are currently in the process of rebuilding the entirety of Full Invasion 2: Amber from the ground up. This is an incredible undertaking, but it is what needs to be done to make it better. When we are done the reboot will have:
- Better loading times
- More compatibility
- Fewer crashes and errors
- An improved invasion system
- General polish and better textures
- Properly developed factions and maps
- Large UI improvements
- Continuous development in the future
We have one last update planned for Amber that will fix many of the bugs, but then we’re focusing all of our attention on rebooting Full Invasion 2. Players will have the choice between playing Full Invasion as it is now, or transitioning over to this reboot for better content, polish, and support.
News articles will be released much more frequently as we continue development, so please follow our ModDB and join our Steam Group to stay updated. Future articles will detail the content we’re removing, what we're replacing it with, and how close we are to completion. If there are any specific topics you would like us to cover, please, let us know!
As expected, there will be a lot of questions from the community about the reboot. Please, share whatever is on your mind in the comments. We will be answering all questions we get in a coming news article.
Finally, if you have experience modding Warband and would like to lend a hand with the update, we would appreciate if you would reach out to us here on ModDB or over on Steam.
Hello, i have a question related to problem related to FI 2 being too big for M&B.
The question is: Is it possible to divide the mod into smaller mod-parts? Like, for example creating FI2-LOTR, FI2-Fantasy/WW mods, FI2-Medieval mods. I do know that will be a pain in the neck for players aswell as for you, but I just want to know whether that would be somewhat good or not. I mean, what's your opinion on that?
It's something we have considered, but dividing the mod up would limit which factions can be played together, make it impractical to switch modules just to play as another faction, and would divide the community across the different versions.
It wouldn't benefit us or the community to do this, and would just end up hurting Full Invasion in the long run.
Thank you for your answer. I must say that i fully agree with what you stated.
Remove the crappy 'nostalgia' maps that are not up to the par with rest of the used maps.
Remove the factions that are not polished and add them back when they are up to the par.
Remove multiple factions from same lore and make them combined, for example, LOTR combined, Warhammer Fantasy combined, Warhammer 40k combined, Star Wars combined.
Good point , Especially this one: ""Remove multiple factions from same lore and make them combined, for example, LOTR combined, Warhammer Fantasy combined, Warhammer 40k combined, Star Wars combined.''''
Because the variety of choice is the best key to fun, so combined all multiple factions from same group in one is big deal
That's the plan we have for moving forward.
It sounds like a wonderful idea, i hope to see the future! :)
Make a Straw Poll vote or something. Remaking the factions would be great. and i hope you guys are ready for Full invasion 3
sounds great ! like you said i think to focus on good and interesting troops and factions and fun battle maps is very important. Also making sure that all the factions have their STRENGTHS and weakness is good ESPECIALLY if you maybe too keep them balanced. It's truly a skill to be able to make the factions different but keep them balanced. Good luck and like you said, please, please continue to keep the mod page undated, so that you don't get forgotten and we know you haven't forgotten about us either. Thanks
It's about time some of the factions that are barely used get the boot. Too many existed even with Amber's release. It was too much. I had hoped with Amber's original release it would've been cut even further.
Guys, please, be ruthless in your actions for the sake of consistency and stability.
I've personally stopped playing for a while now just because of the amount of runtime errors that popped up. Didn't feel worth bothering if my gameplay was just going to be randomly cut in half ruining the experience - even if I placed every single graphics setting to the lowest. It just would still crash.
Sounds like a good plan.
Personally i love full invasion and i love what you guys have done with the UI its great but i do agree the loading times are insane and i do feel that a couple of the factions are a bit samey and alot of the lack uniqueness.
so perhaps look at the factions that look and play the same and think about removing the less popular of the two.
As variety is the spice of life so more variety more flavour and yeah there are a lot of maps actually which go unused and are or nearly unplayable but i think the best way to do it again is to do a poll on it.
so do a poll on which factions to keep and which maps to keep .Then you are getting feedback from the fans and everyone is happy. Love the mod cant wait to see what you guys do next sincerely - ER
Well honestly from most nations which are there I only like playing as The Kingdoms of Westeros, The Lord of The Rings, Roman Empire, Sparta and nations that only have swords and bows, crossbows. I don't think that MaB is ideal for muskets and so. Specially Warband. Napoleonic Wars is however different case, mod which is good for these muskets nations. Of course someone can have different opinion on this. This is mine. And one more thing. Please add more enemy nations that are suitable for nations like Kingdoms of Westeros. Not butchering farmers :D as Eddard Stark. Or you could add hint to name which enemy nation is good for this nation. And last thing I think you should fix mod first before adding new content.
Yes, please do fix the mod. Playability is a big priority and constant crashing is intolerable. There are hundreds and hundreds of redundant weapons, textures and models which are bloating the mod. In Modern Era and world war factions for example, we could make do with less than 10 variants of sniper rifles, pistols and assault rifles.
Musket factions have troops for every possible nation, and most of them use unique weapons and outfits. We probably don't need 7 different shirts and 9 different pants for each troop in Anglo-Zulu War, or over 20 samurai armors to choose from in Sengoku Jidai.
Many assets could be reused.
also it is quite unnecessary to have like 10 lotr and 10 musket factions. Instead of having a lot of factions just take out of each faction 1 class and add it to the whole (musket faction with zulu horse gunner, french musketman etc)
re-add flamethrower pls :)
I have not read anything below so forgive me if you are already using a method to determine what is wanted and what is not, but this is my idea. What if you made a forum poll where you have all the defending factions listed, the voters can choose five of their preferred factions. This is so that you can see what is definetly not popular and what is, you could also apply this method vise versa with invading factions.
I'd say to just polish over all factions and maps that are used, take out spacious maps, factions and textures that are never used by the players and finish up with FI2:Amber.
This will let you be ready for Full Invasion 3 when everyone else will be playing it. Get the mod (FI3) up and running while Bannerlord has thousands of players online and waiting for the "Newest" mods! :)
My thinking of updates:
* Performance of gameplay is always first of graphic visualisation
* System of Heroes is not good in amber, is very expensive and limited. hearos need to be very cheap, especial weapos/armors yes can be expancive as bonus
* Randomly weapon boxes = very bad idea / weapons in fixed price and super weapons at the place of expancive hearos = good idea
* Better armors in fixed price as bonus in the place of hearos / heroes can be chosen from begin as the FI2
*add gain experience in power weapons use
*Adding more tricks to trolling enemies in maps, not only barricades but maybe a mini bridges or ropes or fortification tower/bunker or anything more defensive also more places to escape
*Randomly enemy formation as they quality/experience war
''*Adding more tricks to trolling enemies in maps, not only barricades but maybe a mini bridges or ropes or fortification tower/bunker or anything more defensive also more places to escape''
I meant maps like Siege of Hamburg, there are ladders, walls stairs to jump from, fences to run around, espace for cavalry .... etc, maybe adding a small bridge or small ramp to jump between walls and run, that be better, also more tricks will be awesome

Those randomly boxes giving knives and sticks is really a big frustration
