its not really NOS its just as effect when you're going top speed with any vehicle. i don't think it actually makes you go faster

The devs had planned a boost system early on that would have been activated via the (A) button on 360 controller given by the left over references I've seen. There is no boost system in the game now, but I guess they felt why make the effect go to waste and made it appear when going at high speeds on every vehicle.

Some people like it, some people don't, it will be disabled by default from now on because it does look a bit odd to me... however it can be brought back by an optional mod that will be provided. This change will be seen in Patch #3 sometime in the next week.

Those flames are horrible in this game, but if there were a way to create a better effect and just keeping it active when shifting would be awesome!

...you requested it and now you've got it! :D

By default this effect will from now on be disabled (i.e. Nitro flames OFF) when installing the core package, however you can enable it again through a provided optional mod if you wish.
