Started when it seemed like Freeworlds development was going to be discontinued, a few like minds have gathered together to develop the next incarnation of the Freeworlds mod. The mod will be set in an era shortly after that of the movies, with the Empire still in control of Coruscant, the New Republic in its infancy, and a galaxy full of characters, both legal and non-legal, vying for either the control, or the freedom of the galaxy. New Republic or Galactic Empire, Jedi or Sith, the choice is yours.

At the time of this article, the dev team has already got a good bit of work under our belt, thanks to Freeworlds' own long-time community member, Noval. As such, we already have over 23 systems well underway, with plenty more on the way. Rather than rave about our systems- there will be plenty of time for that later- we figured a picture is worth a thousand words:

Is this still going, or is it the same as the 18.XX project? I think a lot of fans would love to see a Freeworlds with OSP or at least the ability to run a populated (ai) local server if at all possible.
