Pretty much what the name is, this is my port of Freespace 2 to Homeworld 2. Ever wanted to command a fleet of Terran, Vasudan, or Shivan ships? Well here ya go!
Christmas gift for FSFC players I guess :P Again this is an attempt to fix the flashing thing, perhaps this time it is? I did find some things that could be issues like a file that didn't exist but the art file would try to look for...idk play this and tell me here.
So this only tries to fix flashing? No other changes?
What about lag and occasional crashes caused when too many fighters, bombers and missiles target a single frigate. Is it possible to have them aim at different locations, not just the center of a ship?
AI should stop being so careful with capital ships that are meant for offence and not mainly base building.
That is all. :)
I have it so ships aim at the centerpoint because of problems with having them aim elsewhere...as in they would shoot at nothing and most capships (hatshepsut, sobek, colossus, some parts of ravana, you name it oh and even some utility ships lol) would miss the target so the battle become irritating when you do no damage but the opponent does merely because your ships are being stupid and aiming at space. HW2 is used to boxy ships with little space in between anything imo, lots of FS ships are not boxy.
AI needs to have a ship in classdef defined as a production ship or it doesn't know what to do. Also if the starting caps were classed as battlecruisers like ravanas or hecates are they would just charge straight in all the time and get their production killed. HW2 AI was made to play like...well HW2 AI which needs "base" ships that are usually lightly armed so they wouldnt be used in combat anyway. The starting caps are in that position.
There are actually a few changes, but they are minor. I gave heavy bombers a bit more hp and made anti-capship bomb tech require anti-cruiser bomb tech.
also the ai likes to cluster up in tight groups, so when it tries to do that with the FS capships well...yeah it has trouble there. The above screenshot are AI fleets though so for the most part they do that.
Nice work, whatever you did seemed to fix that problem. Tested the mod as always, reloaded and everything still worked fine. I'm further going to test something including a ridiculously big space battle against Vasudans, anyway, for now it looks good. And really, your description sounds just like it's one of the weird issues hw2 sometimes has.
well no point denying that the "fix" was me giving the kayser the boot :P
seems it's rather unnoticeable then, I've had enough. If its just going to continue being a gameplay breaking problem its just gonna have to go.
I'll get to putting up the team color version of this.
did you fix the hitboxes?
in other words the problem of ships missing their targets a lot? Yeah...thats what I mean by having it so ships aim at the centerpoint of their target...is why I had to do that in the first place. That was fixed a while ago.
oh right , awesome :)

I was experiencing very frequent crashing in the release before this, but this new one seems to have fixed it, as far as I can tell. There are a few issues though.
Aside from how the AI has the habit of constructing as many Destroyers as possible, the custom voice-overs no longer seem to be present. Is there a reason for this? I'm certain the previous release had them.
Anyway, aside from the somewhat warped main menu text, this mod is turning out exquisitely. Have you considered creating a custom UI as well? I been thinking of creating one in the style of the Freespace menus.
Apologies, I just realised I downloaded and commented on the wrong mod.
