Alliance are a serie of different mods. On the Star Wars GC, you can play the civil war Empire vs Rebel era + Black Sun and soon the Republic and CIS.

They can be very interesting because many players can play this battle or another against a enemy with a full base where you can find many enemies, structures, even the armed walls and all your attemps attacking can be repeled.
