attention, boring video ^^
- technical testmap, not very well setted up !
testing a new, hmmm, interactive Shader (my first own Shader programming btw ^^).
the thread was, having sunshafts which can interact with outdoor environment like rain or evening / night.
also they react if cam is indoor and, if cam was before outdoors, they fade in smooth, so no ugly pop up appears by entering.
if player walks inside the shader, it fades down, so you have no strange close-cam sunshafts.
this is complete automated by the new window entity byself which i have spend the last 10 days with.
the important thing was, that I (or the mapper), place only the window entity inside the window hole of an building and I'm done.
note: if players leave the building, there is in real game an overglow HDR effect which blends the "to dark looking doorview" which you can see here. unfortunately this effect is not capturable by the screengrabber.
you can believe me, it looks really nice on your machine :)
and here the technical video, which shows how the sunshaft interacts with all things:
10 days, holy crap, I say the work shows!
most of the time was used for other effects which the window can do.
the nice sunshaft was always a "nice to have" dream which i have had in my mind IF (!) i once do that window entity ...
so i have had to decide: i try to do that and i do it as best i can or i left it half finished and be angry all the next years about ;D
Congrats on all the recent breakthoughs and advances! The amount of progress on TOUGH ISSUES is impressive :)
thank you :)
but nobody cares at the end if it was a tough thing, all what counts, is: is it working and good looking ;)
