Thanks for the praise! It's great to see the response we've had from the launch of the mod and awesome to see how people still dig the old games. It's been pretty tough, Serenity started work on the mod back in 2013 (possibly even earlier) and he's been working on it always with the intention of releasing it alongside the new film. I was only brought onto the project in August after Serenity saw the work I'd done for Evolution of Combat III Remastered. I'm a web developer and film maker so I was tasked with working on the menus from his version, creating the launcher and promoting the mod. The biggest problem we faced was that nearing release, Serenity's computer started to show signs of failure, and sure enough, about two weeks before we launched, his PC died. Luckily he managed to get a backup of everything and he continued work on the mod on an old laptop he had. Thankfully he managed to get the final copy to me so I could finish up my end and publish it to ModDB. But then... he was flooded. I haven't personally spoken to Serenity since early December because of this, he's currently living with friends and it doesn't sound like he's in a great situation at the moment. From what I understand he's managed to save his EoC source files somehow, but I don't have a copy of them so any bugs deep in the game (like crashes, etc) I can't work on, and obviously Serenity isn't exactly letting EoC take top priority at the moment either - for this reason, past the first patch, there probably won't be much more game content this year unfortunately unless Serenity is able to keep working on it send me stuff which I highly doubt. It's been really tough talking to everyone on ModDB through the launch and trying to address issues people have as I'm relatively new to the project and don't have the understanding that I need to answer everyone's questions. That said, it's been great fun. Working with Serenity to produce the promo materials, the videos and more has been a great experience and although time consuming and stressful, the community response has been worth it! So, thanks again for your comments, I hope you can see now why it means so much when people show their support for the mod! -Matt |
