Thorin has been part of Edain for many years now, and we've come a long way in portraying him.
He just gets younger every patch ^^
We should find his cosmetic secrets!? o_O Probably Beard cutting obviously!? XD
The heart of the Mountain apparently is The Fountain of Youth XD
Made a pact with Sauron obviously.
Or, he secretly trades with Valinor and receives cargoes of Wheat of the Gods from Yavanna's Pastures :D

Thorin is supposed to be old according to The Hobbit book so that must be why it was made that way.

I prefer him younger if truth be told, although in terms of a human life span I'd say he'd be in his early 50's, so no longer youthfull, but not elderly either

Is there any way to obtain the palantir picture and some in-game screenshots of the 2008 Thorin? I absolutely love that design and would like to see more of it. Could someone post/upload this?
I think it's very worth devoting to the pure realism of the main characters. The details of 3D relief are works done so effectively only by EDAIN MOD (Congratulations), But the texture can be even more true to reality. You can use as an example the BFME2 HD EDITION :
