Dystopia is a is a total conversion of the Source Engine that places players into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. As Punks or Corporate Mercenaries, players will fight through the physical world to gain access, via Jack-in Points, to cyberspace. Cyberspace is a three dimensonal representation of the world's network. In cyberspace, players must fight off enemy hackers and launch programs to gain control of critical systems and to affect the physical world. Gameplay progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives, and players must work together to achieve victory for their team. Players will be immersed in action-packed battles, whether as a heavily augmented combat mercenary armed to the teeth with the latest in firepower and cybernetic implants, or as a twitch-reflex cyberdecker racing to infiltrate a cyberspace node.

Team Dystopia would like to officially introduce you to Cyberspace. In Dystopia, players who select the cyberdeck implant are able to use the jackin terminals which are located around the realworld environment to access Cyberspace. Once jacked in the decker will navigate through the 3D representation of the level's computer network.

This environment is made up of two parts; network links and network nodes. In the screenshot below you can see the blue links and the green, yellow and red nodes. Each node houses controls for various things in the realworld, such as security doors, lifts, turrets and force fields.

The best way for us to explain Cyberspace is by showing you, so we've created a 1 minute 30 second video clip of a Corp decker travelling from one end of Vaccine's network to the other. It includes background music by our very own Bioxeed. You can grab the 36 meg self playing bink from these mirrors:

not unique, the system shock games had this sort of thing in them, but this is a very good implementation of it. nice texture work too :)

It's amazing how its allways a 'guest' who posts the rude comments..

To you, I say I'd like to see you do what has been done here and then after you do it, you can come back and say it.

Wow Dystopia is constantly looking sweeter, though that video was awesome, I'm not quite sure what I was watching, I guess I'll have to wait for the release.

Uh its not just any old glow, its bloom effects, with shader fallbacks coded in for dx8 cards. It looks hell boaring without the glow (I play tested without the glow for like 3 weeks before I realised I needed to install some beta drivers to get it implimented correctally because of my 6600...) really blew my socks off seeing what I had been missing out on.

Bink videos may annoy, but it saves the hassles of different codecs, media players and the like.

the textures arent _that_ special in cyberspace when making them i made a conscious decision not to go to overboard with bells and whistles in cyberspace, as the bloom is what really makes it shine (pun)

teddy is responsible for that wonderful view-switching in cyberspace, as well as the bloom effect, which is a little more advanced than any of the other mods i have seen that use it.
