As a fellow beta enthusiast, Dooming The Bar is very endearing.

The 2001 maps have been recreated with much care and attention; not only that, there's a surprising amount of completely new geometry that fits very nicely as either transition space or expansions. And this is with the fact that the original brushwork had to be recreated bit by bit.

The atmosphere is gloomy and Matrix-like, the levels are strange and mysterious, the Arcade is loud and dark and claustrophobic (the GOOD way!), the old beta lives again in Dooming The Bar.

This is an amazing take.

There are other 3 mods still in development to recreate the HL2 beta content, they are excellent but so is this one. It shows: 1-that even the most primitive 3d engine can translate from a concept art almost flawlessly 2-that if you look attentively you can see that the early 2004 source engine looks ridiculously similar to doom/quake engine

As a beta fan, this mod was very good. Even if it's a short demo, it looks very promising.

Best of luck to the developer and the mod.

A lot to say about this mod, the most positive thing is how the maps are made and it's well designed and feel like I'm playing Half-Life 2, also I like the idea of the very low poly props and 3D also some good FX (rain on the face).
Now here's the half one, I mean the negative part, the reason for this score is that the ambient is like too calm (I saw NPCs working on the their stuff but it doesn't count). There's no actions, no hostile NPCs and not even a free TV. I was hyped by the trailer but after playing my excitement is gone.

I don't say you didn't the good job about mapping, you impressed me but when I see Dooming the Bar, I've excepted to see DOOM guy shooting at combines.
