Description

Someone asked if Redux 2.0 was going to be windows only like the previous version, and the answer is no : with the compiled code from Sikkmod now being separated from the main mod, Redux can currently be launched on any of the various source ports that exist for Doom 3, including the cross-platform dhewm3.

Here I'm showing Redux running on another source port known as fhDOOM, which allows for more modern features like soft particles and proper soft shadows through shadow mapping. These are pretty fun to tinker with, although you shouldn't expect a polished experience while using them : these source ports are still in developpement and require your help to identify the issues that need fixing.

dhewm3 in particular is an impressive cross-platform effort that is in active developpement and holds the best hopes for future compatibility of Doom 3 (including on Windows). If you're planning to play Redux on Linux or want to try your hand at something that you can help improve, you should definitely try it.
