First thing to be said is RBDoom3bfg only works with the BFG edition of the game.

Barrel error:2.9c should not happen anymore
If a map crashes and in the console it says it couldn't load the collision model for exp_barrel then go into your Doom 3 bfg directory, then into the base folder, then the generated folder and delete the folder named "collision" and "models" folders. The game will regenerate those and you will be back to working. if you still end up with a issue delete the models folder in the generated folder as well. If you are running a mod the mods folder will have a generated folder as well. delete the same folders in there also. If you never want to see it again and dont care if the barrels look like octagons delete the "exp_barrelfuck.lwo" in the \base\models\mapobjects\fuel_barrel\ folder.


Caverns 2 brick crash everyone should just do this now.
delete the caverns2.map file in base/maps/game and the map folder in the base/generated folder.


Erebus 3 crash to desktop
delete the "zombified_jumpsuit" texture folder in base/models/character/male_npc/


WIndows 10:
run RBDoom3bfg in Windows 8 compatibility if it crashes at the start.


"Couldn't load default.cfg"

If you ran from a shortcut the property "start in" in the shortcut properties is wrong. or you didn't install to your Doom 3 BFG install directory. Make sure you installed there(RBDoom3bfg.exe and Doom 3 BFG.exe should be in the same folder) if so run from the RBDoom3bfg.exe. If it runs make a new shortcut.


Crashing while loading a map/level:
Previous versions of Doom 3 BFG high def mod had some ASE files from another mod causing a corruption in the generated collision model. To fix Install Doom 3 BFG mod 2.0 or delete all the asc files from the models folder. You may end up deleting the generated folder as well.

Previous versions of Doom 3 BFG high def mod had Phrozo's materials and defs calling for images and PRT's not included in Phrozo's mod. To fix install Doom 3 BFG Hi Def 2.0, or extract resources to get the stock files, or delete the def, materials, and scripts folders in the base and reinstall doom 3 bfg hi def 2.0 or higher.


Graphic Issues:
Renderprogs is not needed in the base folder remove. They are now built into the engine, old ones in the base folder will cause graphic issues.

Modlauncher: This project was abandoned and is not supported anymore by whoever made it. It comes with 3 problems. 1. A older version of RBDoom3bfg. 2. Renderprogs in the base folder. 3. Having to extract all the resources to run mods. To fix Don't install. if you did reinstall newer version of RBDoom3bfg back and remove Renderprogs folder from the base. You do not need to run this for Doom 3 BFg Hi Def mod.


Previous versions Doom 3 BFG Hi Def:
If you have any version before 2.0 there was some issues. If you install 2.0 it removes those folders. If you didn't remove the Material, def, script, and models folders and reinstall. Anything above 2.0 does not remove these folders.


Decal madness::
Decals going crazy and/or acting weird (like visable thru walls), if you are using the Reshade that is what is causing it. Reshade is made for Doom 3 bfg not really for RBDoom3bfg.


Saved games:
Old doom 3 glitch, updates will cause saved games not to work.


steam achievements:
don't work since the console is enabled

I'm having an issue all of a sudden, it's weird.

Now when I walk with w,a,s,d, I'll get walking sounds with random beeping noises. In the console there's warnings about playing default sounds.

I'm assuming this is because it can't find/use the sound file so is playing a default beep noise.

The only thing that has changed is that I dropped in the Trent Reznor sound pack, but that doesn't include a shader file for walking sounds.

I'm having an issue with the latest version (engine update patch 2.7d) - there are blood textures/decals visible through walls and other objects which is highly distracting. The problem is only present when running version d (version b works fine, but I prefer the improvements version d has).

The issue looks like this:
