Description
The early great basinet. The basinet, which until this time consisted of a pointed helmet for the head, a pointed visor for the face and a mail aventail for the neck, began to evolve. The emergent form now used plate defenses for the neck, in the form of a bevor. Bevors initially overlapped with mail aventails, but eventually grew to replace it, as seen here. It would later extend laterally, to defend the shoulders.
