Description

Preview of UI art for DAC. Riding to battle then dismounting to fight was the preference of elite infantry such as Anglo-Saxon thegns or Norse house-carls in the 10th century A.D. By the 15th century, for a completely different set of reasons, this tactical choice reappears. Here we see a Breton man-at-arms using a cut-down lance as a spear. Fifty years ago, the same man would remain mounted and waited to charge with his lance couched.

Art by AsherNitin. Pen on paper, then digital. Fighting stance derives from Fiore de'Liberi's The Flower of Combat.
