After completion of the SOL Knossos gate the GTVA sends a small recon fleet to investigate. Upon exiting subspace they realize nothing is familiar. With no way to return they begin to colonize. The native factions, TEC, Advent and Vasari take notice of the intrusion and some believe they should be removed. The GTVA was not prepared for this eventuality and sent older Great War era vessels, and in order to survive they must scramble to construct the more advanced vessels from home. However a old foe may be lurking in the shadows.

It's me again… must be getting boring :P

I noticed how you wrote you were working on abilities as one of your goals, well i came up with a few ideas that i though i might share:

- "The GTSG Alastor is the Alliance's most advanced sentry gun platform. Immobile once placed, Alastors can be dropped by warships to cover a retreat, or they can be positioned to strengthen defensive firepower around strategic locations…" excerpt from the tech room, and it gave me the idea that there could be an ability to spread sentry guns around a ship, either a capital ship or the most expensive cruiser/corvette to prevent spam, you could also add a cost to activating the ability as in the Star Trek Armada III Defiant's mines. Maybe one either focused on being an anti strike craft vessel to amplify it's effectiveness or one lacking in that department.

- The Colossus, as i noticed has the Ankylon's abilities, i though one of the abilities could be overcharging the beams as used in the original game against the Sathanas, you would then have to get creative with the effects, with either damage bonus, more rate of fire, extra range, or all of them.

Also i noticed you added a "scramble bombers" ability to the great war era Orion that spawns Ursa bombers, that's a nice nod to ending :)

Note: Don't be afraid to say, not just in this case, that something is a bad idea, won't work or that it's not in your plans, where i'm studying (which involves problem solving and design) a lot of ideas are thrown around, so maybe that's where i picked up this (bad) habit, also because i have a soft spot for Freespace haha.

I like the ideas. The Alastor ability is currently being tested. I did have it attached to the Fenris before but found it was quite OP, given the AI would just spam these things. I want to make them disperse like the mines you mentioned but scratching my head on how to go about that, maybe make them double as mines.

The Colossus will be completely redon with new abilities. I have pondered with the increase in damage ability such as a "Gunners Fire At Will", possibly a Blockade style ability to prevent ships from escaping for a while.

I like the Scramble Bombers as well. I have another one for the Arcadia which spawns more wings of Hercules fighters.

I appreciate the input. I too throw ideas around such as Im trying to trip SINS into allowing turrets.
