Dead Air is a total conversion for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series based on Call of Chernobyl, encompassing all aspects of the game from graphics, audio, and special effects to various gameplay and AI features. The mod evolves from the ideas started in Call of Misery, a previous project of the mod author. Major inspirations for Dead Air include projects such as NLC, MISERY, Autumn Aurora, and OGSE. Dead Air prioritises the development of the game engine’s potential, complexity of gameplay, and attention to detail, along with addressing both the quality and quantity of all content.

Hello, everyone! It’s been quite a long time since our last piece of news, but worry not — the development process is going well without many problems. We still can’t tell you anything about any deadlines, so this message is just a little “we’re still alive” memo. As a bit of an excuse for that, we’d like to tell you about some of our upcoming features — features that some of you might already have heard of but haven’t properly been introduced to the Western community.

Many lighting sources have been redone to make them look and feel more realistic:

Dynamic wet surfaces, which used to be exclusive for DX10+, have been ported to the DX9 renderer:

Dynamic volumetric smoke (Clear Sky DX10 exclusive feature) strikes back to spice up underground locations:

Ambient and radio music no longer clash with each other and will not break your immersive experience:

Wild LOCKED DOORS have appeared, scattered throughout the entire Zone. Can you find them all?

Even more inventory slots have been added among with equipment to fill them:

Oh, and no more magic infinite bolts, sorry:

As an extension, the UPD-based system has been reimagined and fixed. Discharged items will no longer be moved to your inventory — they simply stop working, as you might expect:

Those little gasoline lamps have gotten a bit of extra love — now you can light or extinguish them, and they also work as a save spot for the “Campfire saves only” mode:

The Cordon level is going to be remade — we're going to make a bigger, better version with many new places to discover:

Last but not least, lots and lots of helpful (or not) items will be randomly generated for each playthrough to fill previously empty areas.

small request please - add autosave after each seconds (coc mod on moddb) and please dont make the character lower weapons after all interactions like skinning, running speed could be restored to call of misery values and highlighting of items a little more visible, also rain is a little too noisy.

Hey guys, good to see you're still working, and before anything else I'll say that Dead Air is one of my favourite overhaul mods for any game I've played - to the extent I'm actually writing up a Pen-and-Paper Survivalism RPG for my flatmates which is a combination of Dead Air, and DARKWOOD by the Acid Wizards.

However, since it seems like a lot of the upcoming features look like graphical options that I'll never get to see because I play in DX9 on a ****** computer, I thought I'd point out a couple of bugs related to just gameplay/scripting that I've noticed - although maybe someone knows something I don't and can help me out with fixes:

+ When creating new characters, the perks/loadout system seems to be super-broken: picking perks further down the list seems to give items that aren't related to the perks I've picked - for example, choosing the Mercenary Items option doesn't give me the Mercenary outfit, flashlight, or pistol with silencer.
Even after doing a fresh install and removing the Addon that rebalances the point costs of loadout options, this still happens.
Instead, picking two specific perks (e.g. Artefact Hunting loadout and Merc loadout) will seem to "add together" to reliably give me the items for an entirely different loadout - I think it's the Experienced Stalker loadout when the AH loadout and Merc loadout are picked. I've tried looking at the Faction_Select.script and it doesn't look like the loadouts are given incorrect descriptions or anything like that, so I have no idea why it's happening.

+ Treaties with Merc/Military seem to be broken too: Buying temporary treaties with either faction seem to, after loading the game a couple of times, turn Clear Sky and/or The Ecologists hostile on sight - this is with characters I know for a fact have never fired a shot at or so much as thrown explosives anywhere near either of the scientist factions. These sudden shifts in faction relations have made some of my characters effectively unable to get any further, especially early on when I need access to the Ecologists for the 'story Psi helmet'.

Quick question, I would like to eventually stream this but I don't want to be hit with a million different copyright strikes due to the music. Is there an addon that replaces the music or an option to turn either all music off or just the copyrighted music off?

will we get any info about this next update THIS YEAR? for ***** sake it's been 3 months, does it really take so much of your precious time to post anything? community keeps this mod alive by recent addons, but everyone is bored as **** regardless. everyone already finished the game multiple times, is it really that hard to understand that we have nothing to come for? your torrent link is broken, new people are unable to even try it. basically it looks like you stopped giving a **** about the community since u hit your 1st place in best upcoming mod.

Today I found a bug, at least in my case. I only got money for killing first animal in the arena, I successfully defeated all the others in time and got no reward from the guy.... :/ might be a bug

Since release Great amazing job, impressive but now before that can yoy fix the crashes first? Rostok always crashes ever 2-5mins, jupiter crash on loading screen not accessible and stashes that i travel for 1h to not find or end up empty, and what's with being more mutants that stalkers and stalker frouos getting killed by2-4 pseudodogs the stalkers ai need to be better or mutants a bit worse? A quick tweak patch for that could have been released in 1 month, what you're doing is great but make what' s available work First
