This Add-on, inspired by artefacts of MISERY, aims to make artefacts more interesting and useful.
---CHANGELOG---
v1.2
- New, optional descriptions added for Slime, Slug, Mica, Stone Blood, Meat Chunk, Bubble, Soul, Wrenched, Gravi and Goldfish. The descriptions are meant to provide even more immersive artefact experience. When all the remaining descriptions are done, the final update will be released.
- Added an option to turn off the degradation rate. During my playthrough I noticed that some artefacts degrade WAY too fast. I tried my best to fix it, but I just could'nt get it done. When I ran out of ideas I just emptied the .SCRIPT for artefact degradation. The file can be found in appropriate folder in the download.
- Some small changes to artefacts. Meat Chunk, Bubble and Soul no longer have shock damage penalties, but Soul also loses its chemical protection. Now the only artefact which decrerases Your hunger is
Mama's Beads (Flame lost this ability). Additionaly, the Beads no longer affect stamina recovery in any way, but their satiety recovery rate has been lowered - no matter if You use the 85%-115% randomizer or not, they will always restore 1 kcal/sec.
- Added an option "R3la's Cut", if You wanted to quickly update/install the addon the way I am using it. It consists of the main file, new descriptions, 85%-115% randomizer and "no degradation" files.
v1.1a
- Fixed bleeding rates on all artefacts that modified them. After getting bitten by a dog and dying of blood loss in less than 10 seconds I concluded that the bleed rate was broken xd. So, I reduced all the values of bleed rate to 5-10 times less than before. After testing on dogs I think they work as intended now. Very sorry for that :/ Artefacts affected: Thorn, Crystal Thorn, Urchin, Kolobok, Slime, Slug, Mica, Pellicle, Sparkler, Flash, Moonlight, Snowflake, Droplet, Crystal, Fireball, Eye, Mama's Beads, Flame and Bubble.
Please note that the additional bleeding stacks every second you bleed, so the longer You bleed, the more intensive the bleeding is (that's why it was broken before, with such high values). If You experience instant death from bleeding after getting scratched by a cat, plz tell me about it, I'll try to fix it even more.
v1.1
- Added optional tweaks to the stat randomization system. In original Dead Air there was a script, which randomized every artefact's statistics in the range of 20% to 180% of its original values. I included two optional files - one of them sets randomization values to 100% min and 100% max, so every artefact will always have the base stat values. The second file leaves the randomizer active, but changes the randomization percentages to 85% min and 115% max.
- Slightly changed the properties of some artefacts. You can see all the properties listed in ReadMe included in the download. The base values have been balanced to be more consistant, especially with new the altered randomization script.
- Also, I included a small "tutorial" to altering all the artefacts and the randomizer script. Just a few explenations and tips if You wanted to have some fun with it Yourself. The tutorial can be found in the Readme.
v1.0
- Release, lol
Artefacts in MISERY were very interesting due to the large variety of their properties. With this addon i wanted to bring some of that variety to Dead Air - now every artefact "family" has a number of different properties, that support certain playstyles, or simply are useful utilities. For example - instead of simply increasing the "wound" resistance, the Wrenched artefact now improves all of Your physical resistances, but also lowers maximum carry weight and stamina regeneration speed, and increases psy damage on top of that. A lot of benefits, but for a high price, too.
I removed most original artefact properties (except for weight and radiation output) and put more interesting ones in their place. Most combinations were inspired directly by MISERY, but I adjusted the values to fit well in Dead Air and not throw the balance out of the window.
One more thing - i made this addon on Dead Air 0.98a's files, but it should work just fine on 0.98b, at least I hope it does. Backup your save files just in case. This addon alters artefacts.LTX and se_artefact.SCRIPT, so any other addons altering these files will not be compatible. It should be compatible with all translations though, as no text files were touched. I plan on expanding the descriptions too, but I'm not sure when I'll have the time to do that. The addon will be updated as soon as the descriptions are done, but they will be available in english only - that's the only foreign language I know good enough to attempt such a thing xD
For more information and a list of effects for all artefacts, I included a readme. Installation is standard, simply extract the gamedata folder and put it in your Dead Air main folder.
Also please take note that this addon doesn't alter any artefacts that already exist in the game world - only those that spawn after installing it will be affected. It means that no changes will be aplied to any artefacts You currently hold or keep in a stash, neither will it affect any that are already waiting in anomalies. If You want to see the tweaks instantly, You will have to start a new game. If it doesn't matter to You though, new game is not required.
Artefact containers, prices, spawn rates or rarity have not been changed. No changes were made to Ingots and the Compass either. I hope You will enjoy these little tweaks - please let me know if You think the balance is broken, I'll do my best to fix it. :)
thanks. did you also increase their sell prices?
Nope, I only changed the effects. Prices and all other stats were left untouched.
Nice, can you make a addon for artifacts in Lost Alpha?
I never actually tried Lost Alpha, but if I ever do I'll be sure to do that. The problem here is that every mod and STALKER game uses the same kind of "style" for dealing with item statistics, but the difficult part is the numbers - when I put numbers straigth from MISERY into here, I got 1000%+ resistances xd It would take some time to adjust and learn everything again, not even mentioning the time it would take to get to know the mod itself. I can't afford to spend this much time, at least not now, sorry :/
No need to rush, Lost Alpha is still being updated. I am just currently annoyed with the latest changes for artifacts because they are just vanilla and boring.
(buried)
Artefacts in DA were specially remade because of Misery unbalance and unlogical buffs/debuffs. Hmmm, let them return and break the vision of the devs!
...
What a rollback here, such a pity.
Just don't use it then
I made the tweaks for myself and simply decided to upload it for others who would like it the same way... If it's not to your liking then just don't download it xD
"Break devs vision" ... What you mean just like EVERY single modder does just by modding a game that was originally produced by PROFESSIONAL devs???
Please kid .. think just a little bit before you trot out vacuous sycophantic juvenile drivel.
Or you might get your lack of a coherent argument REKT .... like just now :P
I found a file inside gamedata/script labeled "se_artefact.script". It may contain the randomizer for the artefacts properties.
I checked this one already, but I will go back and see again, maybe I missed something.
Wow, it was actually there, no idea how I overlooked it last time. Thanks a lot, I need to work on the balance a bit, new version will be up as soon as I'm done :)
No problem, thanks you for the addon.
do you fix bug of oridginal ded air with any artefact what increases the armor don t increases it in fact?
I didn't even know such bug existed. What I have noticed though, is that for some reason stats covering explosion and gunfire resistances are switched around - "explosion" covers the in-game armor, and "fire_wound" covers defense from explosions. I think this may be the reason for this bug. With this addon it shouldn't matter, as every artefact with one of these resistances also possesses the other one, and the base values are the same. I'm not sure though, if anyone can confirm that it's still bugged then I'll look into it.
Thank you so much for that, extremely useful.
Do you think you would know how to modify, and if possible make a tutorial on how to modify the relations between the player and factions, and perhaps the factions between themselves?
I heard about a game relations file but I never found it.
Thank you.
I may look into it, but it can take some time. What exacly should I modify there though? Because I'm not nearly as advanced as to bring back the faction wars from Clear Sky xD
EDIT: Ok, I found the file. What should I do though? :)
Make a tutorial on how to change the relations between the player and factions, i.e. I tried to be friendly with everyone except bandits and Monolith, but I could not be friend with Military, and I would like to know how to modify the folder in order to get neutral with them,, or improve faster the friendship. In call of Chernobyl, someone made it It is called "Fast Faction Goodwill Grind".
Ok. I will have to test it though, it will take some time until I'm 100% sure that any changes won't break the game at some point. It seems harder than the thing with artefacts, but if I figure it out I'll be sure to let You know.
Btw, is it not possible to boost Your friendship with Military? You can buy a pass from Duty's leader in Rostoc, but first need to ask Snitch in the Bar about the agreement with Military. I tried it only with Mercs so far, and by buying the pass You get 7 days of neutrality, which You can use to do quests and boost Your reutation. Isn't that possible with the army too?
I bought the pass at Duty, but Normally in Rostok, Snitch in the bar sells this type of passes, I was able to buy the one from the Mercs, but not from Military guys.
Nice little addon, now using arts in DA makes sense
Thanks :) that's just what I was trying to accomplish xD
