CoH: Modern Combat re-release v1.019. This re-release does away with the old installer and instead requires manual extraction. It also includes several small tweaks and additions.

Hi everyone. Time for another patch!


We haven't changed anything major this time around, however there are some important alterations that should probably be explained in more detail.


Firstly, we've disposed of the old MSI installer, which was becoming unintuitive and causing issues with repeat installations. We've reverted to a simple but reliable archive format instead.

We've also added an Uninstaller to make things easier. If you have an existing version of the mod, you need to uninstall it before extracting v1.019!

Secondly, we've added 7 new maps by Omnicron and Unreal-Eugen, who have done a fantastic job in not only making these maps for you but in finding innovating new ways to use existing assets. We hope you like them!

We've also removed a number of unconverted community maps that were added to the mod despite being set during WWII and containing no modern assets.


The team has been quiet lately; we've been reduced to only a few people, and we're all beset by real-life obligations that have drastically reduced the time we can contribute to further development of this mod.

That said, we hope to persevere and have exciting plans for the future. It'd be premature to make promises at this point... but if all goes as planned then you can look forward to a new iteration of Modern Combat unlike any that have come before it. More news on this at a later date.


We hope you enjoy Modern Combat 1.019, and that all the players who have been experiencing installation problems can finally run the game without issue. Sorry it had to be a full re-release and not just a patch, but it was the only way for us to ensure everyone stays compatible online.

CHANGELOG

General:

  • Added an Uninstall batch file.
  • Fixed a fatal SCAR error that was occurring at the end of skirmish matches.
  • Increased default and maximum camera heights by 5 metres.
  • Increased slot item drop probabilities by 20%.
  • Several mine triggering and UI placement improvements.
  • Removed obsolete DLLs.
  • Removed obsolete manifest XML.

US:

  • Removed the Predator drone's weapons load.
  • Removed the Paladin's lockdown ability (which the AI couldn't use).
  • Increased the range of the Paladin's default barrage.
  • Increased the speed of the Paladin's projectile.
  • Replaced placeholder 60mm mortar with an M224.

China:

  • Reduced the munitions cost of PLA AT mines (from 50 to 40).
  • PLA AT mines can no longer insta-kill light vehicles, but are now guaranteed to cause an engine or tread critical when triggered (the probability of which was previously only 85%).
  • Reduced the munitions cost of PLA incendiary mines (from 20 to 10), and added a fuel cost (5).
  • Incendiary mines are now more effective.
  • Booby traps have been revised (increased in power, cost and ability duration). They now trigger a sequence of grenade detonations around the target point.
  • Fixed ZTZ59Ds being able to fire ATGMs with damaged main cannons.
  • Tweaked the formation of PLA Engineers.
  • Replaced placeholder 82mm mortar with a PP87.
  • Replaced placeholder flamethrower with a Type 74.

Campaign:

  • Some rebalancing and tweaks.
  • Gave special weapons to certain PLA troops.
  • Fixed Corpsman healing ability being permanently deactivated at random.
  • Removed shared timer on "Mark Target" ability.

Art, Localisation and Sound:

  • Added 3 new environment supply caches for mappers.
  • Improved Predator specular and gloss textures.
  • Made the aircraft minimap symbol more generic.
  • Replaced current tracers and smoke trails with the original smaller versions.
  • Fixed the Type 85 SMG's tracer.
  • Minor UCS localisation tweaks and fixes.
  • Italian localisation updated.
  • Czech localisation updated.
  • Polish localisation updated.
  • Chinese localisation updated.

Mapping:

  • Added new map: Golmud Outskirts (2p) by Unreal-Eugen.
  • Added new map: Huihe River (2p) by Omnicron.
  • Added new map: Zìyóu Square (2p) by Unreal-Eugen.
  • Added new map: Apocalypse (4p) by Omnicron.
  • Added new map: Quzhou Suburbs (4p) by Unreal-Eugen.
  • Added new map: Battle for Qhuai (6p) by Omnicron.
  • Added new map: Huangtian Rice Fields (6p) by Unreal-Eugen.
  • Removed 14 non-modern community maps.

Not exactly sure what you mean by "gameplay", but:
- MC still incorporates base buildings, tech trees, doctrinal upgrades/abilities, etc. The fundamental mechanics of CoH are still in place.
- It has dual damage systems: one identical to vCoH's and one more realistic.
- We have our own functional AI, so you can still play skirmishes.

Hope that's what you were after.

Check for me that your "Company of Heroes Relaunch" folder contains the following:
- A folder named "ModernCombat".
- Five "ModernCombat" module files.

Are they all there?

My COH is installed on my D drive with my primary Steam library, and the mod works fine o: the target location in Properties sometimes is set to work with the C drive by default though, and needs manually rewritten O: idk

On Datian Bay 1v1 map, the AI will always go straight for your base because the path from one base to another is available through the shallow water. It's very annoying to play on that map! :/

Pretty sure that map isn't part of the official 1.019 release... we specifically withheld it due to the AI/pathfinding issues.

Did you download it on the forums, or from a secondary source?

So is the Abrams gonna be a complete piece of **** again ?
Where it misses every shot, even when it has advanced technologies and a laser range finder plus elite crews, plus it gets out ranged by every Chinese tank which is pathetic and it's armor is paper as well. I don't understand how a soviet era 100mm can penetrate 12+ inches of chobham armor, which is supposedly 2x stronger than metal. As far as I see it, the only American tank in the game is a huge pile of ****. Strikers/LAV's with ATGM's are 750x better against vehicles. While the Abrams is a complete piece of **** that gets two shotted by AT guns. Bc logic. And yes I am Murican fanboi and I am raging but how is it fair that the only American tank in game gets out done by everything else?

1. I agree that the balance in-game is unrealistic.

2. That's because it's based upon the balance in vCoH.

3. The Abrams is far from ****; in fact it's one of the single most powerful units in the game. Being able to survive an AT weapon in hardcore mode is a luxury.

4. That's not to say it doesn't need support.

I'm hoping for Abrams tusk to have more tan colour without the weird looking paint mouth, teeth, and an animal face. I'm hoping to have a realistic tan colours. The Abrams range is short and the power is not strong (HEAT round or SABOT round). I agree with nosolution69, the armour is weak. The tusk should have a cage armour at the back. Overall, the m1 tank in the game so far is excellent. I like the model. I'm hoping if new future updates can fix these issues.

Thanks for the heads up, I've updated the page.

Installation is now pretty much identical. Just make sure you have the right directory (don't copy/paste the examples as they'll be wrong).

Well I may answer that: The Predator drone in the mod is used only for recon, therefor having bombs attached to the craft is not needed. It's just a simple change of the model. :)

From our v1.011 newspost:

- Weapons generally do 300% DPS to units, wrecks and combat structures, and 150% DPS to observation posts and tier/ambient structures.

- Longer (x1.4) sight and weapon/ability ranges for all units.

- All infantry can sprint.

- Stationary units are 25% easier to hit.

- No tracers/smoke trails (excluding missiles and rockets).

- Almost all units take longer to acquire targets.

- Weapons are more accurate when firing into groups of enemies. Don't bunch up!

- Most projectiles are faster.

- No visible countdown timers on grenades/satchel charges.

- Removed cap limits from units like the Abrams and ZTZ99.

I would like to honestly suggest to buff the "Supply drop" ability from US "Air superiority" doctrine. Right now it's hugely underpowered. You pay 50 fuel and over the course of the next minute you get about 50 bonus ammunition, and it has a VERY long cooldown time. I know in CoH2 the Wehrmacht has a Luftwaffe supply drop ability that for a price of 50 fuel gives you 150 ammo instantly (and I've not heard people say it was OP and I frankly don't think it is). At least the ridiculous cooldown time must be cut down, right now I click on it and I have to wait for what seems like an eternity to be able to click on it again, while I have 400 fuel (in case of strong enemy AT presence and my MP shortage) piled up (no air superiority for me). ;)

The main problem with a bigger bonus (it currently gives 100 munitions btw, 50 instantly and 50 over the following minute) and a smaller recharge time is that the AS player would be able to spam some quite powerful off-map ablities.

Just a heads-up though, the doctrine is liable to change in the future.

My Apache died almost instantly to a single Chinese IFV on Hardcore. :P
And I meant to say the ability is called "Aerial supplies". But ok, I see you have plans. :)
Btw icons on stuff that you want to research (upgrades for units like the SAW or flamethrower) are missing, while it is upgrading on a unit you can see the icon, but before you click on it it's just grey blank (it's that way on my PC at least).

If i play as US i have the choice between the 2 factions: U.S. Army and United States Army. One has a yellow the other a red dot on the flag. - Is this a bug or a feature?

The dots are just there to make the Army and Marine Corps more distinguishable at a glance.

Maybe you change the name to make the difference more clear. Because for non US-Citizens (like me) it isent clear.

Erm...i dont get it. I have no crachs or bugs in the game. I have 2 US Factions with more or less the same name. - How should fix a re-extracting this problem? Again: i dont get it.
Or i am the only one with that problem?
Maybe i should make a screenshot to show what i mean.

I know exactly what you mean; you're talking about the names in the lobby. I've heard of this happening before but I can't remember the reason for it.

The re-extraction is just to make sure all files are in the right place.

PS: The actual factions work though right? You can play the game without any other adverse effects?

I have a question: Why does the M1A2 TUSK doesn't have a cage armour at the back of the engine? Also why does that tank have a weird mouth and teeth painting and a animal face when I put the Tan pack on or without on? The tank accuracy and damage are weak compare to real-life. Same applies to its' armour. Please reply! I want to know. BTW, the game is amazing! Thank you for putting this amazing MOD!
