From the crew that previously brought you the acclaimed C&C Tiberian Dawn Redux mod for C&C Generals Zero Hour, we proudly bring you this sequel project, C&C Red Alert Redux! The mod features both Allied and Soviet factions from the original C&C Red Alert! Attack Dogs, Tesla Coils, Naval Warfare, Gap Generators, M.A.D. Tanks, and even Chronoshifting are all included in the mod! The nation subfactions and the story campaigns are still under development and will come at a later date.

I'm reviewing the beta 0.96 here, as of the time of writing the full release was not done yet. The mod already is an absolute marvel and really conveys the spirit of the first Red Alert to the 3D gameplay of Generals. Though still a beta, it already seems well balanced in skirmishes and the two available missions are fantastic and left me longing for more. Just like with Tiberium Dawn Redux, actual new or remade campaign missions are by far my favorite part of the mod(s).

The graphics look stunning and barely like C&C Generals anymore (a 20 year old game which really cannot be compared to a Red Alert 3 mod or a remake done only a year ago by a paid game dev studio); so many new effects, shaders, textures, objects etc. Also a short thank you to sgtmyers & team for releasing the whole graphic update pack for the regular Generals as well, creating an amazing graphic update for the beloved C&C Generals as a byproduct.

Last but not least I want to highlight how smart and challenging the AI already is, compared to the originals (both generals and red alert). Even on lower difficulty levels the AI acts way more feasible and knows how to pack a punch, while not making the easy setting too hard for newcomers.

All in all TDRX was my most favorite mod of all times across all games I've played, and now RARX strongly positions itself to be the successor I've waited for so long. Thanks to everyone involved, thanks for reading my review and see you on the battlefield, Commander! :)

The Redux mods aren't known for their graphics but it's disappointing to see it less visually appealing than RA Remastered and The Red Alert RA3 mod.

3D is well and good but there needs to be graphical detail to make it worthwhile, especially when going the realistic gritty route. Otherwise the end result is underwhelming when compared to other ZH mods.

The creators seem in a rush to get something out but I hope they can put more effort into quality.

Because the strength of these mods lie in their campaigns this score may change in the future.

Zero Hour is a 20 year old game but there are mods for it that look better than RA Remastered and The Red Alert RA3 mod, such as Cold War Crisis and Rise of the Reds. The graphics issue is a result of the devs rushing development. Making excuses and giving my review negative karma does not make the mod better.
