As Strelky now will assist anti-tank duties, they need better equipment. This weapon is reserved exclusively to be used by Strelky squads, and they can get it after the purchase of the Men Against Tanks upgrade.

Now, attach a scope that that and we can recreate some of the famous Stalingrad snipers! :D
Actually that think didn't have the accuracy required to hit humans. Sure, you could hit an entire Panzer or even a car but attaching a scope to it to snipe people is something that is from the Call of Duty universe, which is quite unrealistic :P
I believe they used it to shoot the gunner slit in bunkers using HE or shrapnel rounds - effective from what I can see. Although getting hit by a 14.5mm round is also a bonus. ;)
@TheSoldier
The PTRS-41 was issued to squads with scopes, regardless if they used it or not :D.
It is impossible that they would have used this beast to kill infanrty, besides being over and a bitch to aim, this thing is incredibly heavy, and you are going to probably die before you can aim at an enemy soldier.
By my last comment I didnt say that there were no scopes, I said that they were not there to target people.
@Erwin-Rommel
I never said they used them to kill people. I just said they were there.
you can do it in call of duty XD
I also hope that this doesnt mean that these guys will be able to take out an MG bunker by themselves because they have a very strong health on the last version of EF.
"Shoot the gunner slit" it would probably mean something like buttoning the bunker, so to speak.
Hmm, true.
Im not the one who disliked your replies :P
not every game
The larger rounds used in many Anti-material rifles (12.7,14.5,20) were actually quite accurate. The problem was the weapon user. 2 men were needed to properly control the weapon without injury and the heavy recoil made accuracy nominal, not the round used or the weapon itself. Over time these designs became ergonomic enough that recoil and handling was manageable with a single user and the higher velocity of the anti-material rounds could finally be used for accurate long range sharpshooting.
I recall reading somewhere that Vasily Zaitsev tried using one of those but didn't like it. I forgot for what reason. Probably a combination of loud noise, bulkiness, inaccuracy and shoulder-murdering recoil.
My points exactly. This thing was simply not made to be used against infantry.
PTRS documentary:
Nice :)
