Dark Ages in the British Isles were a fascinating, dismal time of constant wars, in which people fought for survival. A dark age with a deep blend of cultures. The 6th and 7th centuries were a time when invaders (Saxons, Angles and Jutes) tried hard to forge their destiny in a new world with the steel of their swords, shields and spears. The ancient peoples tried to resist, while they saw their kingdoms defeated and conquered by the “barbarians”, and sorrowfully saw how their beloved world slowly disappeared off the face of the earth. But other people must not be left unmentioned, like the Picts, who have always inspired great interest. Or to the west, another island as complex as Britain: Ireland in which many people were fighting for a piece of land, their clans, livestock and supremacy. In short, it is a world we know little about, yet a magnet for history lovers: a time of war and great deeds, where few kings (almost none) died in their beds.

This version includes a player's manual, the Brytenwalda The Wargame, Graphical pack (Polished Landscsapes mod and Calradia In Darkness mod), and the Novella (a short story about the battle at Heathfelth).
Many bugfixes.
Note Freelancer feature (enlist in a lord's army) is still there but you need 5 relation points with the faction.

Thanks for this great mod, been playing M&B since 0.7something and have seen so many ambitious mods just die off. Dropped it for a long time got hold on Warband and tried Brytenwalda wich is IMO the most fleshed out mod I have seen so far. Congrats on really finishing it!!

I started 1.396 just two days ago when I saw this one was out. But the installer keeps telling me I don't have enough disc space even before the install-routine starts. Is it only checking my c:\ drive ? I cannot even get to chose my directory of drive. But maybe I should get out my old Taleworld-forum account and ask there..

Anyway 1.396 will do for now (just liked to see the manual), or is there a patch I just can haul over it ?

Again very, very good impressive work, seems you guys were a very sophisticated team. Thats what the game (at least Warband) could have been in the first place!

There's no patch, only full download, and it's big. About 800 mb. So that could be the reason for "not enough disc space".

Nay, I made more than enough room for that (like 10 Gigs. I had a similar problem with another game-installer: I had to clear space on my C-drive even it asked me beforehand which drive to use. Than I could install it on d:. So it still checked only my C-space regardless of what I was doing. Has been about 400 MB in size wich I could barely get together.

(I downloaded and executed them in d: but -I think- they only really check on c:)

Is there something like a zip/rar file? I mean it's just copying files into folders isn't it?

Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to the next!

This is the only download avaiable. Unpacked the mod itself, Brytenwalda, is close to 2 GB.

A bit too eager about going into battle :)
Still too bad there is just this .exe as I have the same problem now on my laptop - oh well I guess I have to stick to 1.3whatever until I get rid of that partition.

By the way never had this problem with previous versions, this is like the gold edition of Medieval II that would only check you main drive regardless of where you would install it later on :(

Indeed, it seems I have the same problem and I have plenty of space left.
Ah well, I guess ill have to wait a while longer until I can make myself a new gaming computer.

Yeah, when unpacking compressed files, it's effectively (from an uneducated computer user) temporarily unpacking it locally (C: drive) before pasting it to where you wanted it to be.

The only new thing in 1.40 is that when you charge your ''heroes'' sheath their shields, weapons an punch (and die) instead of slaughtering.... Can someone help !!!

I can't replicate that bug. What are the names of the heroes/companions and what weapons do they not use?

Almost all of my heroes weapons dissapear when i give out the order charge if I am on an open battlefield (if it's a siege or defend or camping they dont hide their weapons, it's not realy pissy but i like to charge when i flank...) thank you only if there is open combat they do this

I have asked around, but no others have this problem. Make sure you don't order the use of blunt weapons, but that's obvious.

When installing make sure the destination folder is correct. Click 'browse' and find the Warband/modules folder.
If you use Steam it will be under: Steam/SteamApps/common/Mount&Blade warband/modules

i did that too, what worked for me was to delete the entire install path, C: programfiles/mount and blade warband/Brytonwalda. and then manually click my way in to the mount and blade mod folder. then it worked.

No, Brytenwalda 1.40 is the full version. Nothing is needed to install it.

Oh great, that makes my day. Cause somehow my Brytenwalda wont update to a newer version than to 1.391. So basically I had to uninstall it all and start over with all the installments which I really didn't want to.

molte grazie,
Saluti :)

AND by the way, AWESOME mod! :D although it's kinda weird how my men do not drink any of the mead or beer. my character was the only one who drank beer or mead when i was working as a farmer, which by the way is something that i SORELY missed in the Native version! and the stone quarry! THANK! YOU! the only gripe i have about this mod is my men not drinking mead and such... but, that is but a tiny mouse on the back of a roaring lion :)

I've had the same problem, except now the install menu has appeared but when I hit install mod 'setup' appears for half a second and disappears and a while after a popup told me I needed more disc space, but I have 19.8 GB free

I downloaded the module, and I was able to select Brytenwalda as my module when I opened Mount and Blade Warband, but during the loading screen, I get the following error message: "Unable to open file: CommonRes\wb_mp_objects_a.brf" and I am unsure what I should do to fix it, as everything else was going fine. What did I do wrong?

It means you need the latest version of Warband: 1.153 !
Brytenwalda doesn't work on older version.

Dammit, whenever I try to run/launch the downloaded exe file, it gives me an error.
Something like this:
"C:\DOCUME~1\ (myname) \LOCALS~\TEMP\AutoRunPro3\autorun.tgt," The system cannot find the file specified (Error Code: 2/1070), please contact support@longtion.com for help."

This is becoming quite annoying, right now.
