Blood Extra Crispy is another mod created by me that will try and change things up once again for another classic game of my childhood. Expect more weapons, more fire modes, more gore, gameplay enhancements, and pretty much what's expected from yours truly. If you're looking for a fresh new experience with Blood then look no further. Thanks to Nightdive Studio's latest KEX engine release, Blood Fresh Supply has opened up a whole new world for Blood modding. Blood Extra Crispy is my attempt at kicking things off with a bang.

That was incredible! Haa-ha-haaaa!๐Ÿ˜ If only there were a way to create a pestilence zone, were any deaths would run the voodoo doll death animation. Fire is still fun to play with though๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ†!

For which attack?

It looks like you've increased the number to 4 for the LL?
If I'm not mistaken on the animation, it would be an area attack, duration something like the lasting secondary flames. It would require enemies to enter the zone (Hallway witdh?) at which point they take (spirit?) damage. A decal on the floor of some sort would be nice& not required. I imagine it would use manna for ammo, health too if not real pricy? Sound fx might be a good indicator(?). Waisted on single enemies, it's more of a crowd control weapon. Call it....

Shadow rot?
Life bane?
Hollow thirst?
Spirit web?

Does it hurt player to run through it?

An advanced version would have spirit death animation for the cultists, maybe a slowed down version of their skinless/bloody skeleton collapse frames?

All weapons have 4 fire modes except the spell book. What youโ€™re talking about can be easily done but is it necessary? Especially with the Life Leech.

Holy crap youโ€™re right. Iโ€™m gonna add more funny one liners and jokes. I really like giving life to this weapon of insufferable death. Itโ€™s pretty morbid.

L0L watching this for the 3rd time I noticed that the "die die die!" voice line the Life Leech Staff said when it was placed is Reaper's from Overwatch! ๐Ÿ˜น

Also when it laughs it sounds like Skeletor from He-Man. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

Yes that was Reaper's voice with a change in pitch to sound funnier like the other sounds it makes.

I do not own Blood and I have never played it far enough to get my hands on the Life Leech. Is it really completely silent and inanimate in the original game?

Late reply. Yes it is silent.

It's certainly not necessary๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ I warned you about my flights of fancy ๐Ÿคฃ
Your work only inspires others to contemplate such things. It's a complement, believe me๐Ÿ˜Š

Completely understood. I think it would be a bit overkill in this place. I love ideas and suggestions though.

Firstly, those sprites are just epic. Very evil dead like, which Blood always aspired towards.

Really dig that the life leech is actually powerful as it is very lacking in base blood with only its alt-fire being useful on higher difficulties.

Perhaps you would consider retaining its 'rare' ammo instead of the recharge mechanic? This is just a nitpick at this point since, well, I can't play it yet :P.

Well done.

Thanks dude. Trust me I debated for a while whether or not to use regenerating ammo, but it really adds a whole new dynamic to the game and it balances the increased power of this weapon. Same goes for the Voodoo Doll. The ammo pickups for the Life Leech have been replaced with Tommygun ammo. I always found that weapon lacking in provided ammo.

This reminds me of something. Have you tried to crash the game yet? Blood had some caps concerning the number of sprites on screen. It wasn't a giant problem, the number was always huge and crashes were extremely rare. If Kex ups that limit, EC could be the one to bring water splashes back (from the alpha)if that's the way you wanted to go. Smoke pot articles for burn victims- you name it. I understand if testing limits isn't something worth it though.

There are limits but the engine just removes actors and FX from screen to keep things smooth. So there is no lag at all for me. I ran around the entire first map of the Post Mortem episode using just proximity mines and never had any slow down. I'm talking bunny hopping and dropping Proximity bombs constantly with god mode. My proximity bombs also leave behind electrical traps after exploding that shock enemies for a short time until they disappear. Gibs and corpses everywhere. Then I went back through and blew up every corpse that wasn't already destroyed with bullets. No problem.

Description

Ok so what's more fun than a staff with a skull on it that can kill and give you life at the same time? A skull with personality of course. With the restored ability to suck life from enemies as you attack them with the primary fire mode the Life Leech has been brought back up to par. Dropping it will allow it's turret mode to target up to 3 enemies now instead of just 1. You can also swing the staff for a close range melee attack that doesn't use ammo but delivers heavy damage. And if that's not enough for you, and if the opposing force just won't go down, unleash a fiery wall of fiery pain straight out in front of you for devastating results. Ammo is restored over time so patience is key, but you can expect maniacal laughter and lots of fun from this classic piece of death. Don't let it's wandering eye gross you out.
