Hello!

So you have decided to create a companion for us! I will be upfront, this isn't for the inexperienced or feint of heart, but we are in dire need of diverse and different characters. Before you get started, read below, there are a few rules you'll need to follow, and some other things:

Guidelines:

  • Don't contact us via ModDB, Email, Steam, etc. Please post your submissions into this thread.
  • Don't beg or demand to be picked.

Along with that, you will also be required to use this to create your companion's dialogue, simply write the text inbetween the last "" in each line:

Companion greeting:

("npc1_intro", ""),

Player responses to greeting:

("npc1_intro_response_1", ""),
("npc1_intro_response_2", ""),

Companion backstory:

("npc1_backstory_a", ""),
("npc1_backstory_b", ""),
("npc1_backstory_c", ""),

Companion greeting after first encounter:

("npc1_backstory_later", ""),

Player responses to backstory:

("npc1_backstory_response_1", ""),
("npc1_backstory_response_2", ""),

Companion signup dialogue:

("npc1_signup", ""),
("npc1_signup_2", ""),

Companion signup responses:

("npc1_signup_response_1", ""),
("npc1_signup_response_2", ""),

Companion payment dialogue:

("npc1_payment", "{reg3}"),

{reg3} = Payment, it'll show in game as the amount of money it costs to hire the companion.

Player response to payment dialogue

("npc1_payment_response", ""),

Companion home backstory dialogue:

("npc1_home_intro", ""),
("npc1_home_description", ""),
("npc1_home_description_2", ""),

Companion backstory recap:

("npc1_home_recap", ""),

Companion king support dialogue:

("npc1_kingsupport_1", ""),
("npc1_kingsupport_2", ""),
("npc1_kingsupport_3", ""),

Companion dialogue for gathering information:

("npc1_intel_mission", ""),

Companion fief acceptance dialogue:

("npc1_fief_acceptance", ""),

Companion dialogue for when you become enemies with them:

("npc1_turn_against", ""),

Along with that, we will also require a face code which can be retrieved by pressing CTRL+E on the character appearence editing screen, just click the cluster of numbers that appear at the top of the screen to copy it, and then paste it along with your character dialogue submission.

You will also need to select a character personality type from the list:

lrep_martial = chivalrous but not terribly empathetic or introspective
lrep_quarrelsome = spiteful, cynical, a bit paranoid, possibly hotheaded
lrep_selfrighteous = coldblooded, moralizing, often cruel
lrep_cunning = coldblooded, pragmatic, amoral
lrep_debauched = spiteful, amoral, sadistic
lrep_goodnatured = chivalrous, benevolent, perhaps a little too decent to be a good warlord
lrep_upstanding = moralizing, benevolent, pragmatic
lrep_roguish = Tries to live life as a lord to the full
lrep_benefactor = Tries to improve lot of folks on land
lrep_custodian = Tries to maximize fief's earning potential

The personality option will decide how your companion will behave should you decide to make them a vassal.

So, this is my description for a companion, I hope i filled the requests correctly XD.

ULISES ESTRADA

Companion greeting:

("npc1_intro", "*Hic* Bastardos *hic* ¡Vengan aquí y mueran como los perros que son!"),

Player responses to greeting:

("npc1_intro_response_1", "Woah, calm down, I think you had enough drinks for now."),

("npc1_intro_response_2", "Sonoran drunkard, get out of my sight."),

Companion backstory:

("npc1_backstory_a", "Err... yo... I'm... sorry. (He calms down a little and gets in his senses.) Sorry for acting like that, It was just... a bad memory. You see, I used to be a Sonorian officer, Ulises Estrada is my name, I was part of the 7th Battalion of Infantry... or was it the 9th? Anyway, I leaded troops through the deserts, fighting of anyone fool enough to challenge us. One day however we ventured to the Union territories answering a call of help. Turned out to be a trap, malditos mercenarios, they wiped us out and I fell unconscious."),

("npc1_backstory_b", "When I woke up my whole regiment was dead and I barely got to walk back to the nearest town. Since that, I started to hunt down every single one of the bastards that dared to attack us, and helped as an extra-oficial militia commander against the Rhodoks invation that came in 1861. Ultimately, after 13 years of exhaustive search and battles against the Rhodok invaders, I hunted all of those bastards down, and murdered the contractor, turned out to be a Rhodok officer."),

("npc1_backstory_c", "However, the Sonoran army tagged me a deserter and chases me ever since. I don't fault them, I acted irresponsibly and never returned to my officers. Now, I have nothing left, I'm old but less hotheaded, and I still hope to redeem my actions by joining an armed group as a loyal officer, fighting against the filth of this world.")

Companion greeting after first encounter:

("npc1_backstory_later", "Nothing really much, I got a job here and there, but nothing serious or good enough to fill the hole in my stomach. So I'm available for a job in your company... Oh, of course, if you're willing to hire me."),

Player responses to backstory:

("npc1_backstory_response_1", "I turn out to be leader of a group of mercenaries, we could use someone with your experience."),

("npc1_backstory_response_2", "You'll be lucky if anyone hired you now, deserter scum."),

Companion signup dialogue:

("npc1_signup", "Oh gracias a Dios... Well, thank you, I would like to."),

("npc1_signup_2", "I'm a professional soldier, I know my way through the battlefield, and also how to lead and train men to guide them to victory."),

Companion signup responses:

("npc1_signup_response_1", "I believe you will be a valuable soldier in my company, but you better stay with us no matter what happens."),

("npc1_signup_response_2", "I don't think my company will be good for someone of your... age."),

Companion payment dialogue:

("npc1_payment", "There's something else. These last 13 years I've been running from the Sonoran army and I got into debt with some people to keep myself hidden. I need to pay {reg3} crowns before I can join you. I know it's too much but could you make me the favor?"),

{reg3} = Payment, it'll show in game as the amount of money it costs to hire the companion.

Player response to payment dialogue

("npc1_payment_response", "Well here you go, but I really hope this is worth it."),

Companion home backstory dialogue:

("npc1_home_intro", "The powder, the trumpets, I know this place. We're near Fuerte Canarios (It's just a suggestion for a forts name), such memories."),

("npc1_home_description", "Well, when I enlisted the army this was the place where I trained to be a soldier and where I spent most of time when not on campaign. I spent days in the sun, training myself and new recruits to turn into warriors. I still remember my first days here, I couldn't shoot a frigging target from a couple meters away. I still remember my lads, strong and disciplined soldiers that knew their way through the battlefield."),

("npc1_home_description_2", "When I became an officer and got my assignation in the 9th Batallion me and my brothers in arms fought bravely against our enemies; bandits, deserters, rebels, anyone who threated the nation. But when the ambush came, all my friends, my family, they were all gone. When the Rhodoks attacked I didn't helped in the frontlines, but I did attacked the invaders where they were weaker. Still, I'm not welcome in the fort, so if you are going in, if you don't mind, I would rather to wait outside the walls."),

Companion backstory recap:

("npc1_home_recap", "I used to be a Sonoran officer in the 9th Batallion of Infantry. When me and my batallion got ambushed 13 years ago I decided not to go back to my army until I could avenge my comrades. When the Mexxitan Intervention bursted in 1861, I helped to defeat the Rhodoks with my own irregular militia group. When the war ended and I got my revenge, but I hid away from my country since I'm still concidered a deserter."),

Companion king support dialogue:

("npc1_kingsupport_1", "Tu, ambicioso bastardo. Hehe, I really like your ambition, and you can believe me, I think you would be a very fitting leader. You see, I love my country, but I perfectly know that it is a rathole when we speak about politics. Corruption, murder, poverty, it's all the same for all over the world. If there's someone who can change all this, I belive it's you."),

("npc1_kingsupport_2", "On my time during the war against the Rhodoks, I met lots of Sonoran men that dreamed with making a change in the country and in the world. Soldiers, doctors, merchants, even farmers who look for an opportunity. If you give me a week or two, I could go back to them and convince them of following you. I'll make them know that with you, the capable, the dreamers and the just will be the ones to decide the fate of the people, insted of the corrupt and evil. Let me amass the smallfolk and your name will spread as the wind."),

("npc1_kingsupport_3", "¡Viva la revolución! ¡Muerte al mal gobierno! I'll be back, and when I do, you'll be the talk of the Sonoran citizen."),

Companion dialogue for gathering information:

("npc1_intel_mission", "I know some officers in León (It's just a suggestion for a town name) who fought with me during the Mexxitan Intervention. I'm sure they can be of use if convince them of helping. No será fácil, me temo. Let me go for a week or two, I may be able to talk it into them and see what useful information they can grant us."),

Companion fief acceptance dialogue:

("npc1_fief_acceptance", "So, you want me to become your general? Santo cielo. I'm delighted. After all the years of war, I never though about becoming a general. I did imagine it, but never though it would be posible. Gracias, hermano. I will be your sworn commander and I will fight with honor and justice against your foes. ¡Larga vida a {player}!"),

Companion dialogue for when you become enemies with them:

("npc1_turn_against", "Listen up lad. I'm tired of all this already, entiendes? I'm not longer in the mood to acompany you. I know, I know, I promised you not to leave, but honestly, eres un dolor en el trasero. I would rather being leaded by a Rhodok than passing one more day under your command. I'm sorry sir, but I'm afraid I will have to take my leave."),
