Reimagination of a singleplayer mod "Azure Sheep" for Half-Life 1. With great exclusion, everything that does not correspond to the canons of the original game will be cut out. Demo is OUT!

RSS June 2020 Media Release

Hello everyone who reads this article. Today we are happy to share the news on the Black Mesa: Azure Sheep project. First, important statement - we are still alive :).

Posted by on

For the past three months our team’s work was minimal, but we didn’t stop. There are many reasons, but let's just imagine that it was a vacation after more than two years of work. Time flies very fast, friends. It is hard to realize that our team is more than three years old.

Now, what’s with the project:
The extension of the first part is near from it’s completion. At this stage, we are testing maps to find problems and errors. Four maps are not finished yet. They are built, but need some optimization and gameplay. We still want to release this extension this summer, but it all depends on the updates of Black Mesa itself. Each time we’re facing the new problems that take our working time because of them.

We put all our earned skills and a lot of time in the Part One Extended. We are very dependent on the opinion and support of the fans after the full release of the first part. We decided to check our capabilities before continuing with Part Two. We plan to shorten the mod, so there will not be many complex mechanics nor a lot of maps that will only make your playthrough longer. In any case, we want to do gameplay and mapping even better than in Part One. We always put a lot of emphasis on this, since we are most experienced in this directions.

Our team wants to thank you for staying with us and expecting for our project's release. We will try to make it interesting for all fans.

Thanks for your attention, see you all soon.

Are you planning on implementing The BMCE addon into this mod? I personally asked them in the thread on their modpage and one of the creators, Blooper Reel responded saying " leave a link back to this page and credit either us or BMCE, it should be a-ok. the only scenario where we'd have a problem would be if you took the models and claimed them as your own work. " I would like to know how you plan to implement it into your mod.

I have already started implementing the modification in our mod. This is a complex process since our NPCs have been scripted for a long time. We will definitely indicate the authors of the mod, just as they did with others.

One of the things that liked about Half-Life is the ability to spawn npcs from the console, and Azure Sheep just had tons of npcs that were fun to play with. When I knew about the Remake in "Source" it made me happy especially that I can spawn npcs anywhere on any map with different weapons, unlike Goldsrc engine. However, the models in Azure Sheep are just skins and unlike HL2, Black Mesa doesn't support spawning some of them with any model. It is really an unfortunate thing for me, but that does that mean I am not exiting for "Part Two" nor that I did not enjoy "Part One".

Hold on a moment, these "fast zombies" are not part of Black Mesa, does that mean you are adding actual new npcs?!

Keep it up, team! We all now have a reason to stick with Half-Life even longer, and it's:
"Half-Life 3 Confirmed" for REAL this time!
