Phoenix Interactive is proud to officially announce that the HW2BSG Team, the original development team behind Battlestar Galactica: Fleet Commander, are returning to continue their work on this total-conversion. Our respective development teams are delighted to share the same vision and the same goal for the future of Battlestar Galactica: Fleet Commander.

You may recall, Phoenix Interactive decided to continue the development of Battlestar Galactica: Fleet Commander in 2014, three years after the first Cease & Desist (which forced the original team to stop the mod). The recent agreement between NBC Universal and Phoenix Interactive has reunited the HW2BSG to talk about the future of the title.

We have now been in discussions for more than a month and a number of points have become clear: We share the same development ideas, goals, artistic and gameplay direction and look forward to working together in partnership to bring players a high quality total-conversion!

"We'll be working together to bring BSG fans what they want" Erik G. H. Meade, founder of Battlestar Galactica: Fleet Commander. "It’s such a pleasure and an honour for us to work with the ones who originally launched the mod. It’ll be awesome." announced Thibault Testart, lead director of Phoenix Interactive.

Stay tuned, you'll know more soon enough!

Good news!))

Happy to see the labor of love that was this project continued. Thanks to PI for obtaining permission to use the IP, and a massive thanks to Admiral Yafn (Erik) for bringing back a lot of the old team. Back when it was just chatrooms sooo many years ago, I still feel like I know my teammates. My old role on the mod was pretty wide and general. I left my fingerprints on everything from textures to hods. I remember the trials that were docking paths as well as the scripting on of our first missions and levels. I also provided the team with promotional videos and marketing (V3.1 is actually in the mod now) and spearheaded the Crymod efforts of the mod as well. I'm excited to offer any and all assistance that I can to the project.

So say we all,
Admiral Darken (Former Project Director)

It brings me great pleasure to be working on this project again, with old friends and new. A lot of love when into making the vision a reality in HW2 and it's exciting to think we can now take that to the next level with HWR engine.

Back in the day I started out on textures and worked on most of the fleet in one way or another, whether it was from scratch (Valkyrie and Aries spring to mind) or enhancing existing stock with bump maps or other details. I also did a lot of work on the build/research tech trees, weapon and ship files, audio (radio chatter in particular), AI (fond memories..), mission coding and numerous other things.

I would like to extend thanks to Thibault and the team at PI for keeping the project going and for all the high profile attention it is now receiving.

It's an honour to rejoin the fleet...

All of this has happened before will happen again.

11 years ago this month, I put a TOS Cylon fighter into Homeworld 2. The next year, the Battlestar Galactica Fleet Commander team released a version of our mod to the public. Version 0.1.6. We went on to release over 30 more times for an average of about a release every two months for 7 years. 3 of those years the mod was in ModDB's top 100. Not as obvious was that in addition, we were updating graphics and code to take advantage of hardware upgrades, this will be the teams second remastered project.

Restarting a top mod team that has been idle over 4 years is no trivial task. During the active period of the mod, new modders would rise through the ranks and move on. Team-mates move on to other projects, graduate, get married, have children. A lot of life happens over the course of 11 years. Where were each of us 11 years ago? What has changed for each of us since then? For many that point in their life were they could devote so much time, for free, and monetary expense for software and services has passed. However, out of the 6 team members who have earned their way to the rank of Admiral, the last three acting Admirals have all agreed to reactivate! Exactly the type of behavior I have to come to expect from them.

In addition some of our highly ranked members who have also agreed to continue are well known and valuable members of the Gearbox HWR Beta. It is especially thanks to them that this reboot will be producing sooner rather than later. Several other's old and new have also reactivated.

It is with all this in mind that the entire team wishes to thank Phoenix Interactive!

So say we all!
