Is it easy to edit the game, so that I can put in more destination years into the time circuits, than 1985 and 2015? |
||

you need to know how to code |
||
Aug 12 2007 Anchor | ||
yeah lol or just figure out which bit of the code is the list and duplicate 2 of the years and add a value in american.txd using this you can add extra years thats what i done |
||

Well, I looked through american.gxt, I found the values for months, and the texts like "Out of Plutonium" and the options in the Sunshine autos, where you select which kind of Delorean you want. I don't even know if I was looking around in the right place, but I didn't find the years. The MAIN part of american.gxt contained all these things except the years. |
||

any numerical value will not be found in american.gxt. Years, days, minutes, and hours are integers in the main.scm. |

I edited the main.scm, with ViceBuilder022.exe, the only problem is, that when I recompile the edited main.scm.txt, It can't recompile, because, it stops with the message: "00BC: TEXT_HIGHPRIORITY "" 2? MS 0 Strings can't be empty" at compiling line 15000, even if I don't edit anything and just decompile, then recompile main.scm. Otherwise, I figured out where are the years stored in the file, and I think, that with some experimentation I can add the extra years, or just edit 1955 to something else. |

Adding extra years is really easy, but then you lose a lot of other features. Buildings will not change unless you're in 2015. You can't get mr. fusion time machines unless you're in 2015. So a couple other stuff to edit. Oh, and you're using an old version, 0.22. Latest is 1.5. Edited by: Delorean88us |

Well, it's nothing really special, it's just that I can do things like, going back to 1942 and a get six star wanted level, and have everyone chase me because they think I'm a spy, or go back to my birthdate, or go to the "real present time" (2007) in the game etc... It would just be for my own entertainment, or maybe I'll make a video about the 1942 one. |

In the final game will you get to choose the year you go to or will you only have a choice of four? Choice of 4 to reduce the annoyance of going from 1955 to 1954 lets say. Scrolling though 130 years isn't fun. Edited by: Delorean88us |

I edited it with 1.5, and with some experimentation I made the following results: I can write any year into the temporary destination time, where 1955 is, but if I change it I can't change it back to that year, just to 1985 and 2015, I still have to find out, how to make the new years stay in the settings permanently. There is another strange thing: If I change the temporary year from 1955 to 1942, and then change the year away from 1942 it doesn't immediately change to 1985, it first changes to 1972, then to 2002, then back to 1985 and 2015 permanently. |
||
Aug 12 2007 Anchor | ||
not strange at all. The way I had it work was add 30 years, and if it was higher than 2015, it goes back to 1985 |
||

I edited the "add 30 years" thing, and I successfully made every year from 1900 to 2015 permanent settings. Thanks for the help! |

now good luck trying to go from 1955 to 1954 |

You edit, what I said in main.scm, save it, then click the Compile icon in the toolbar. |

ok, new rule, no posting of edited code online. I don't like the idea of seeing it online where some person might copy it and use it for their own gain. I know you guys won't, but there was one instance back then when someone tried (foolishly) to hack into my email in an attempt to get 0.2c, which of course, i never distrubuted accross email, so I'm kinda wary of this stuff. I will tell you...look for 2015, 1985, and 30 all in about the same 'paragraph' if you want to learn how to add more years.
