Karabiner 43, also known as Gewehr 43, is a German World War II-era semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge. After the Wehrmacht invaded USSR, they captured SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle, which used excellent short-stroke piston gas system that worked flawlessly. Walther company copied this system and incorporated it into their design, creating the Gewehr 43 rifle. It is a steel-receiver semi-automatic rifle with wooden furniture, fed from a removable 10-round magazine, with manufacturing process simplified for mass production - while the rifle quality was held to highest standards, the parts are crudely finished and don't look as refined as pre-war Kar98k rifles.
