Click and find out more ;) Welcome to a new era of Warhammer ! Welcome TO HELL !
The improvements over the other model are clear to see. I was rather nervous while rounding parts of the weapon: using the bevel tool in Blender always puts me on edge; so I'm surprised the curves came out that well, with minimal cleanup/prep work. Updates to come soon... I hope...
What's the difference between the pulse rifle and carbine, besides size?
I have no idea, I know next to nothing about Tau except that they are heresy.
That being said, according to Lexicanum it is supposed to be identical to a Pulse Rifle in all but shape and weapon range.
May be a good idea to make the rifle semi automatic and the carbine fully automatic.
Once I get to the config stage I will look at weapon statistics in lore and tabletop.
The "Pulse Rifle" Is LONG and the "Carbine" Is Short.
well in the PS2 game Firewarrior the pulse rifles were slightly more accurate and had slightly slower rates of fire when compared to the carbines which had that weird disk shaped under slung grenade launcher thing to help "IMHO over" compensate for the carbines bullet / projectile spread in that game.
It's also worth mentioning that game has a pretty good Boltgun too.
so was their plasma gun too ... loved the brutality of that weapon and it was very very well depicted in firewarrior to the point that it was just as much fun to use as the flamethrower thing in brutal doom xD
I believe the carbine have he better rate of fire.
I Know there are MANY Places to read up on WH40K Lore/Cannon, But this info seems to be the same everywhere:
Warhammer40k.wikia.com
Much like the OLD M16's to the New M4's, the Tau Pulse Rifle is more of a Long Range infantry weapon, where as the Carbine is from more close-order combat
Warhammer40k.wikia.com
so its safe to assume that carbines would be primarily issued to mechanized/mobile assault infantry and capital ship crews?
yes
