Arcane Dimensions has had content added to it over time that has only increased the depth and quality of the title.
If you were to go back fifteen years this would have been released for cost as an addon. Part of me thinks it ought to be an official addon/sequel as to be honest, it completely outdoes the original game and to some extent, most FPS titles released nowadays.
It really is an achievement that is truly worth playing. I'd also encourage you to search out and play OCallaghan's "In the Shadows".

What can I say that hasn't been said already? This is not really a mod, this is a work of art. It makes the original Quake look like a cute lil attempt in comparison.. everything from level design to the new monsters is just completely next level. It makes me wish for a campaign with connected levels and a story, tbh. That, if it ever happened, would be the best Quake ever made, including all sequels.
Simply the best DLC (I can't call it a mod) to good-old Quake. In fact it returned me to Quake 25 years later and I see it's more than alive!
One of the best mods ever made for any game at this point. Basically a Quake expansion with some of the best levels in Quake history and top notch art design. The visuals of some of the levels will blow your mind, and the combination of great functional level design and this quality of art design is a real treat.
Now if only someone were to add Quake 1.5 and Quake Combat Plus improvements to this, and get it all working on vkQuake-RT. That would be the ultimate Quake.
Absolutely top notch development work! I recommend this mod to people that haven't played Quake in a while, and are looking for a fresh take on the game.

I don't think I ever played a mod more than this one. The maps included are the most tasteful collection of maps you could include, some short, some sprawling, but all engaging.
You can also play the vanilla campaign with its improved models and particles. A remaster before the remaster.
Fantastic; wonderful gameplay. Love the tweaks to the shotgun and the hud. The maps are intricate while still retaining the charm of the original game, well done.
This could be consider the Lovecraftian Quake 2 we never got.
