Alternate Warfare is a Total Conversion on C&C3 engine, the background story is set in the Cold War era in a different timeline, in which the experimental weapons that never practically saw service are granted a chance to prove themselves in the battlefield. As the Commander, you will have to battle through a series of campaigns dating from regional conflict in the 70s to a full-scale nuclear war in the mid-90s, make use of these new weapons wisely in order to emerge victorious in this Alternate Warfare.
Hi, I found this picture on the internet, which looks the outcome of an orgy between Mi-12 and Mi-24 lol. I'm not sure if it exists or is it just pure imagination. Can anyone give me any info on this? Thanks.
I guess it's just a model, built from one of these model kits. Maybe I'm wrong, but have you noticed ll the missing details (paintings as warnings for weapons or the turbines, etc.)? Also, the whole heli is ver shinny, an atribute that is often given to such models as a last finish and a wayto secure there surfaces from damage. Also there is a rotorblade missing on the upper rotor.
Nice model though, did you thought to browse trough Devian Art for inspirations?
(buried)
are you ******* retarded? look at its surroundings. it's obviously life size. ******* moron.
You do know that you can buy small scale props aswell. -.-
The person who modelled it must've made the scenery aswell. Or, it was photoshopped.
Calm the **** down.
Power...
Looks like the Osprey.
i agree, but it seems the engines are fixed in vertical position .
Mi-28, one of really early consepts of it (1968), when army demanded not only attack-cargo heli (Mi-24), but also fast attack gyrodyne. Ceased due to revision of helicopter tactics - manoeuvrable > fast, because of attack planes, so they went to more... conventional means.
Language IS bad. Sorry.
Official Mil site (not translated): Mi-helicopter.ru
Some "Corner of the sky" air encyclopaedia (scroll down): Airwar.ru
thanks! too bad i can't read russian...
Generally it is 2nd - 6th paragraphs on any of these two sites.
Partial translation:
6 May 1968 - demand for attack gyrodyne: fast, manoeuvrable and stable in flight. So they took Mi-24, removed cargo hold and added wings with propellers, and at the end of the year they had "first progect" (not sure what they meant by it). But than Mil died, and that, stacked with unsertainty of what arme REALLY whanted from gyro put progect on hold.
1972 - New chief desiner, Tishenko, new try. Army formulated clear demands: support of land forces, hunt for tanks and armored vehicles, cover of transport helicopters that are dropping airbone troops (maby could be formulated better - I simply lack words), fight with enemy helicopters. Weaponry - 8 AT guided missiles "Shturm" (AT-6 Spiral) and 30 mm cannon. 1200 kg of weapons total. Cabin and main parts' armor can hold up to 12,7 mm bullets. Should navigate at any time and weather. Top speed - 380-420 km/h.
Constructors (desiners? makers? Not sure how to) made components, gyro's wing allowed to put demamnded catapult sistem with ease - no need to remove rotors first. Finally they made 11,5 t model with engines (2800 horse powers each of two), rotors (D = 10,3 m) and such (suppose it is what we see on image).
At mid-70 army revised attack heli's tactics: from high-attitude & fast hower-capable attack planes to low-attitude and manoeuvrable, and out of 3 consepts to fit these role - one with 2 rotors, same layment (I think there were better word for it... forgot...) as here, just without tail's pusing rotor, and two classic layment with different engines - classic won.
With layout change hely become simplyer, but capable of lifring more weaponload and overall more efficent. Also they removed catapult because on low hight it was unefficent and just hoping that frame wil hold the fall was better way of surviving - noted, it WAS desined to survive fall.
And than goes history of Mi-28 how we know him.
thanks again! :D
It seems reminiscent to me of the German Weserflug P.1003.
Since I can't find any reference to this in my sojourn across the net, except for a couple of iterations of this image (one of which labelled it as a 'mock up'), I'm going to agree with 56er and say this looks to be a model.
i want one
doesnt have much fire power...
I like the design... been thinking about making something similar for me genZH mod.
you know man.. i thing russian really like to make like this "monster".. but not all people like us know bout that "monster"..
