Alpha Project is a Battlefield 2 modification which goals are to bring back all the features that were left out in the retail game. The gameplay style of the mod is a mixture of arcade and realism.

You bring up a good point though. The US Marines (and the rest of the US Defense Forces) don't use this weapon. If anything, this should be a pickup kit, and its position replaced by either the HK416 or the SCAR-L.
