This is a "completed" Demo for a 3rd person action/fantasy game. We say it is a demo because it is set out like one - players play the first level of the game, and then skip ahead to the final level, although at this point there will probably not be any more work done on the game. However, it is still really fun, with 3 original levels, lots of new characters, weapons, HUD, menus, sounds, and good gameplay.

STORY
--------------------------------------------------
The land of Alorea is one of relative peace. It consists of small tribes, scattered throughout the world, all living mostly independantly from one another. At least, it was, until Van'Bosch, leader of one of the more powerful tribes became too greedy. He wanted to gather up all the magical items in the world, and keep them for himself. So he rallied his people to battle, and began attacking surrounding tribes - stealing their magical artifacts and forcing their people to join him, or die. Now, Van'Bosch only has a few small tribes on the outskirts of Alorea to defeat, and he is sending his armies to take over a village which is known to have a very powerful magical item - the Talisman of Thunder. The player takes on the role of Malik, a citizen of this village who is given the talisman and asked to save his people. You must take up arms and defeat the invaders of your village, and then go on an epic journey to stop Van'Bosch and his evil armies. As you progress you will gain new weapons and abilities, as well as learning to harness the power of the talisman.

------------------------------------------
The Demo
-------------------------------------------
You start the demo in your home village, under attack. You must help your fellow villagers to defend the waves of evil armies attacking the town, then leave the safety of your town's valley, to begin exploring the world. In this first level you have a basic sword, little fighting prowess, and a very limited grasp on how to use the abilites of the magic talisman.

After leaving the valley in the first level, the demo then transports the player to the end of the game. By this stage Malik has made his way all the way to Van'Bosch's castle, and is by now a competant fighter. You now have access to 3 different weapons (ranging from a very large and slow, but powerful sword, to two small quick swords). You also have now grasped the powers of the talisman, and can use your abilities much better. You must battle through elite guards, find a way into the castle, make your way to the throne room, and kill the evil warlord himself.

Please play and let us know what you think. The game only takes about 15-20 minutes to finish, but what HAS been done is very complete and polished. Note there are some specific install instructions, so make sure you read the readme file -

*DO NOT RUN THE GAME FROM THE MODS MENU IN JEDI ACADEMY. IT MUST BE RUN FROM A DESKTOP SHORTCUT OR IT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY.*

*YOU MUST HAVE THE PATCH INSTALLED TO UPDATE JEDI ACADEMY TO THE LATEST VERSION (V1.01)*

If everyone likes it and wants more, we might pick the project back up and finish the complete game.

Also, check our site to download the mod, and see a trailer!

I played this mod some time ago, and must say it's really good. The level design looks pretty good, there are new NPCs, new characters... Weapons as well. Not to mention the storyline itself...

Of course it has almost nothing to do with Star Wars, except, that it's a modified Jedi Academy after all ;)

This was a fun mod all-in-all I really liked the terrain in the first level, the second level was fun because of the big sword, the last level wasn't as much fun as the others. I do think you should finish the mod though, if you do cutscenes would be good.

The link to the website DOES work. However, the downloads on our site are currently offline. However I have uploaded both the trailer and the demo files to modDB and they should be added to the profile within the next few days. We should also have the files working from our website in about a week.

In the meantime, the trailer can also be viewed at youTube if anyone is interested. Just search for "Alorea" and two hits should come up. It is pretty obvious which is the right one.
