a brief Part 2 has now been added.........to the tutorials.

I've just added some basic tutorials on creating levels from 3ds max r3 on win xp and fox tools to give some understanding in what it takes to create custom content for the game with some techniques i use. v1 is up in the tutorials section, there will be more soon, thanks.

I've finished up the Derelict level and I am moving on to the Colony level which is the second in the marine campaign. Derelict should be available once approved by moddb.
I'd like to make note that I may not be supporting the FOX version much longer since Rebellion can patch the steam version and not the old fox version is not my problem blame rebellion not me for not updating the fox version from 1999.
Because the steam version supports higher resolution textures for use in level and mod development it makes more sense to develop and spend more time in that environment then to rework a project 6 times for the same thing that doesn't matter and is just a waste of time and effort for me, sorry fox avp users but I'd like to make use of the features available than stay with an old obsolete version not many use anymore. Hope everyone can understand I'm tired of being limited to 128x128 8-bit textures.
In addition to working on the first two levels for the marine I also have one for the predator (sp waterfall) that has been posted(hosted) by my friend and fellow avp1 enthuiast Mad_Max_RW and is available at his avp redux site. or at my homepage at bladeghost_j.webs
I see no reason to post the level twice.

The Derelict level will come in a few flavors.
There will be 2 versions of 3 derelict levels.
one will be the steam version.
one will be the fox version.
the steam version will have an automatic installer.exe and a manual install file for those inclined.
the fox version will be manual install only.
Now the derelict will come in 3 maybe 4 flavors like this..
Marine single player,Alien single player, Multiplayer and maybe a co-op version.

Hey, bladeghost! If you are modding for this gem of a game, I'm sure you are familiar with a great many things concerning it, such as the different versions that exist of the game. You know, how the game has two different versions of the live action actors on in game screen: British and American? Before my harddrive got fried, I had customized my AVP game to be just the way I remembered it. American actors and no stupid censorship of the blood decals. Right now I am working hard to try to get it back the way it was.

Now, I'm asking you, do you know where I can download some files that have bigger blood decals? 'Cause the ones in the game you buy on steam are TINY. Just little dots where the blood lands. The multiple blood stains in my older version used to be pretty damned juicy! In your version of AVP, are the blood decals that fall on the floor (not the walls) tiny dots rather than nice splashes that grow as the body bleeds? If you have those uncensored files, I'd love for you to mail them to me if possible. My e-mail address if chainfire89@hotmail.com

I've played both your Derelict and new map for the Predator. Any chance we'll be seeing more Single Player Campaign maps from you in the future?

I would love to be able to fight multiple Alien Queens, Xenoborgs, or even large amount of Face Huggers and Predators all in one Single Player map for a more challenging experience. Would hope to see a map like that in the future, make it a combat focused map where the player must kill every single enemy on the map and survive to complete the mission instead of just throwing switches and solving puzzles. A map where the player using an Alien must kill some Xenoborgs and lots of Predators is another example of an interesting combat focused Single Player map.

It's such a shame that when they released the Gold Edition they only expanded the Multiplayer and Skirmish maps but did not offer any additional Single Player campaign maps.

Although I've learned that it was still possible to experiment and explore all of the Single Player maps with all species via the Nelev utility or renaming the map filenames and backing up the map files.

I'm also interested in seeing new Skirmish and Co-Op maps based on many of the locations from the movies. It's just too bad Co-Op and Skirmish is still LIMITED to fighting the same 3 Alien Bots even after a re-release on Steam after all these years, instead of supporting ALL of the Bots in the game for a much more fully complete Co-Op experience.
